Salopek wants transfer

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Solve this problem - disband both the Power and the Magpies.

Without the Power driving it out of self-interest, the Crows won't press for a chance to wreck the SANFL.
Neither will any composite team that replaces the Power.
Life would be easier for all coaches with 4 SANFL teams aligned with each composite side in the AFL.

why do we have to be aligned to The AFL? I have no interest in the AFL, nor the NRL, nor the SAAFL, nor the EPL!

Well,in SA we got stuck with it when a certain club tried to join the AFL via the back door and triggered a crisis.
We then made the wrong choice, and, instead of excising that club from the SANFL completely, we decided to make a more equitable looking deal with the AFL for a composite side.
Then we yielded to the winging, felt guilty, and gave the original defecting club a consolation prize.

Now we are paying the price of allowing "one club" to push us into that deal with the Devil.

Maybe the car chose to go to the employee of his choice cos the old employee left him in the garage up on blocks and the new employee said he would take him out for weekend drives.

If no other employees said they would also take him out for weekend drives, then fair enough.

Is the air a little thin up top of your Ivory Tower?

When someone shows me a contract that Salopek signed with Glenelg, I'll shut up about a transfer fee.

And it may be the Power employee's job to massage sensitive egos, but it certainly isn't mine.

For 10+ years I've watched and read people like you and your cohorts gloating and kicking the Magpies while they were down. Now you're all a little upset the PAFC is kicking back.

Interesting that out of all of the other recent cases of AFL players relocating sanfl clubs, and having transfer fees involved, the power/magpie supporters choose this one to make an issue of said transfer fees....

and also, the maggies arent exactly kicking back. they are a little spoilt child in the playground that is only allowed to get away with their bullying behaviour cos they have their much bigger adolescent brother standing at their shoulder threatening to bash anyone who disagrees.

What a strange post. Nothing to do with Ivory Towers or massaging sensitive egos. At a social function we discussed football. I mentioned how I still remember meeting guys like Tim Ginever at our junior football training and the influence these players can have. He knows my young son is a "mad" Centrals fan and talks about the Centrals players as his heroes, partly because they are approachable, gave him a high five or said hello to him at the local games. Part of the reason we go to the SANFL is how non-corporate and down to earth it is. It was his view Port Power have to try to attract families and young kids with no real AFL affiliation (as yet) to the football. Hence the offer, to try to get more than the 14,000 that had attended the North Melbourne game that day.
I don't believe I'm one with a propensity to kick someone while they're down, despite putting up with you and your cohorts gloating for 30+ odd years about the Magpies. I wouldn't describe it as "kicking back", more like subscribing to inequity.

He is a registered Glenelg player, simple fact. When not required by the Puffs he is a GFC asset.

Id say the transfer fee is there to stop players getting mini-drafted and then deciding after 2 games they want to go to another SANFL club, which if wasnt there it Port could easily get all their players over to the Magpies and have their AFL reserves and kill off any small part of the original magpies that exists today.

Port have lost two players and gained five (under a re-allocation) no wonder some whinge that there's a transfer involved. Surprisingly they've also gained the most players.

I don't get it.

One one hand Glenelg supporters are claiming Salopek is useless and not worthy of a league game and also laughing at Port for having to pay a transfer fee for their own player.

On the other hand they are claiming that Port are gaining some massive devious advantage out of the One Port concept.

So which is it?

Glenelg spent a mini-draft pick on him. PAM did not. Ergo some sort of tangible compensation is owed to Glenelg by PAM. Got nothing to do with any contract the player might have with an AFL entity.

I don't think any of the three parties (Glenelg, PAM or PAP) is unhappy with the result.
