Must be doing something right since being equal top after being newly promoted.
Had a very good side last year and have added some talent to it. I no they have lost a few players as well but T.Creek is a gun and would be close to one of the best players in this grade.
T. Creek a gun? Serious? Must be playing a hell of a lot better than he did at Wallaroo in YPFL. Perhaps the less travelling and no doubt the once in a lifetime chance to return to the SAAFL has allowed him to concentrate on footy.
Would be a better import than a couple that Wallaroo have this year,

Thought clubs were getting better at understanding the consequenses (both legally & club) but have heard or read of at least 4 major incidents already this year. While clubs have a duty of care to take action against their players the League can't keep putting its head in the sand and say "reports are down" because it is common knowledge that paid umpires, let alone Club umpires, won't to go to a Tribunal. Footy has changed and while Amateur & country footy is grassroots and we all enjoy the contact, thuggery isn't acceptable anymore. And the damage done to the Scotch boy on Saturday should have consequenses.

that hit the nail on the head.....who really goes out on a saturday to play football to be put in hospital by a punch or a kick......the umpire's should have a duty of care to protect all players from this and yes the problem is getting an umpire to report and turn up wednesday or thursday night to testify

How about this for a solution - if an investigation is brought before the league shouldn't also the umpires be investigated as to why they chose not to take action.
Umpires might be more inclined to make the trip to Thebarton if they know they are going to be hauled over the coals for sticking their head in the sand.

That'll just add to the long list of reasons why people wouldnt want to umpire.

Pretty sure the umps get financially compensated for turning up to a tribunal, some of them seem to go to town on it judging by previous seasons.

Yeah $15 last time I had to do it! $5/hr by the time i drove there waited forever to be called up and then went home again!
And then when you get in there its the Ump thats the one getting grilled, not the player, because its the ump that's evidence is being questioned!
Not worth all the hassle for those that are only umping to help out thier club, and a lot of effort for those that have jobs and enjoy the opportunity to relax on a wednesday night after work!
