Still topping up over at Yank!

From Koonibba to Port Districts this year - 2 games in Div C2, 2 games in Div 2 reserves then back to C2 for 1.

Bay's Craig Littlely plays his 300th senior game tomorrow. Yes he was (possibly still is?) an annoying bugger to play against but still gets my admiration on getting to that milestone.

GSFL Movements

Postby field of dreams » Sat May 26, 2012 11:54 pm

Fraid so TLM. Maybe BJ will elaborate but it seemed Willunga may have come thinking they just needed to turn up and after weeks of victor not being able to bring a 4 quarter effort, they came up trumps . With only 4 goals scored against the wind in total to 3 quarter time, willunga headed into the last with the wind and a 2 point lead. But the young victor side battled manfully and had the best of the last where in previous weeks they just couldn't go on with it.
Shows how close the comp really is.

Well done to Craig on his 300th yesterday, almost ruined his day but we just couldn't get over the line. The game was physical and fairly fast for most of the game until the last 15mins when the bays were able to bottle it up & keep hold of the footy.

Also no BOG of an oval BJ even with a huge amount of rain this week. How's your hill looking?

Gees WOW, with 24 scoring shots in total it would seem it was bottled up for the whole game!

LF - interested in your take on the Creeks. Looks like they finally hit their straps - already 7 up at half time then piled on 11 in the third!

Creeks did yesterday what I think people have expected from them all year. We had no excuses, obviously like most teams you have a few outs but we were near full strength. Their big names dominated, Sherwood straightens them up and they ran us off our legs. I think a few during the week talked the contest up a bit too much. It was the reigning premiers vs the team that only won 1 game last year and looking at our results we haven't beaten anyone we weren't expected to at this stage Kellock, Mcgregor, hill (before a hammy?) we're real good

Not getting any better for Strath. :( . Hill from the creeks does seem to have hammy issues over the last couple of years, seems funny for this to be going on as he is a personal trainer i believe  .

Touchy touchy WoW. The hills in good shape as always mate!

Victor showed up and with a workmanlike attitude kept persisting and took the game from us. Our lack of conviction and want to kick it to our strengths which on the day was clearly our height up forward why we continued to overpossess the ball through the middle and across half back was our undoing. Victor wanted the win more, and deservedly won the game!

Close game up at Myponga, great effort by the muddies to get so close to the Bays. Creeks flicking the switch on Goolwa looks ominous and Yank dismantling Strathalbyn shows 2 very very good sides playing good footy! Great comp this year with anyone capable on their day to push any side! GSFL is in a good spot right now!

The GSFL has become a much closer competition in recent years but there are still a few clubs that have quite long winning streaks against other clubs.. for example, I can't recall the last time Willunga lost to Myponga or the last time Langhorne Creek lost to Goolwa-Port Elliot.

I'd be interested to hear from each of you about who you think your respective clubs have had the longest winning streak against.

Willunga would have some pretty long streaks against a few sides I would guess. After Victor defeated them on the weekend a few of us were scratching our heads about the last time we beat them.

It was only 2010.....I think. Victor beat them at willunga when they won 13 in a row leading up to finals. I note only to be soundly beaten by them in the prelim at victor.
