Jimmy would love to play but the facts are (as announced by our CEO on Saturday at the VP's lunch) that he barely does half a night training per week with us at present and is not anywhere near 100 percent fit so as he could not meet the demands expected re training with the SA Squad then he did the right thing and withdrew.

One wonders how well he would be playing if he were 100% fit. The man is a freak.

So they are all restricted by injury to 1/2 a nights training as well. Good players though they all are, none of them are performing consistently to quite the level that Allan is.

No doubt he is an elite player. I said in a topic about a year ago that he and the Gowans twins would be in the best 5 players from any club since the advent of the Power. I don't think that you can compare players prior to that era.

I just think that it is remarkable the way that Allan is performing given his limited training regime. For 50 years or more I have disliked the cheap shots that some supporters take at the champions of our game and in this competition Allan is certainly a champion of the game.

I repeat, the man is a freak.

Whose criticising Allan, some of us are criticisng the people who put him on a pedestal based on criteria they are unfamilar with how that applies to others!

You'd be surprised at how little the likes of others in this competion train such as Cicca, Zorzi, the Gowans, Allen etc train but they still go out and produce to a very high level.

Its a pity he saved it for North instead of kicking 2 in the Grand Final last year when the game was on the line.
We must have been at different games too because I thought the third quarter was one of the few times all day when the game wasnt on the line as the Dogs looked like they were crusing. IMHO the game was on the line in the 2nd quarter when North got a handy lead and again in time on of the last when North hit the lead.

If there were two Paul Thomas' out there that day Central would have won. Spurr and Thomas were two of the main reasons Central got back in the game. I might have to watch the game again just to make sure my statement is right though...

No need to watch the game again. Just read my post and the one I quoted again and see if you can work out the point being made this time. The fact Thomas played a good game is irrelevent.

I think in a game that only has a 6 point margin its on the line pretty much the whole game. Basic math take Paul Thomas goals out and they lose. His goals in the 3rd quarter gave us a lead heading into the break which we obviously needed the way North came home.

IIRC Hayes kept them in it also with some clutch marking in the back half.

Jimmy was out with a number of North players at Broadview last night with the Juniors, they all did a great job, however I would say looking at Jimmy if North were to play this weekend he would be an out.

I heard it as well. Cornsey was doing a live read.

Don't think it's right though. If sanfl had changed their mind and given us free entry it would be a big media release
