That's pretty impressive Phil, is that the highest total in recent years?

Granted you're coming off a flag, but for a club that at times cops gibes about not having a heap of supporters you'd have to be pretty happy with that number?

They must have counted both heads on each supporter ...

There may be some inconsistency on how clubs determine their membership numbers?

I think I remember reading (from another thread) that the Eagles count the kids in their total whereas the other clubs don't.

Think it's also been discussed that some clubs include Life Members and other non-paying categories.
Think the Eagles have a free u/13 membership, and then a paying junior membership? Probably fair to include the latter but not the former.
Not disparaging anyone's good work in growing our membership over the last few years, but I doubt we'd have that many members compared to other clubs using the same criteria.

Hi Dedja ( and Spargo) another stat to share ... just for you two

Home Match Crowds in 2012
- Eagles (3rd) - 4 games, 12,984 - average 3,246 per game
- North (9th) - 4 games, 8.958 - average 2,240 per game
(North 4,026 behind the Eagles with 6 games left ... can the Roosters catch up?, can they even pass West 2,326pg (8th) and South 2,376pg (7th) to avoid having the lowest home match crowds in the league this year?)

But back to topic - good Question ... how are membership numbers arrived at? It is different at each club. South for example have got rid of their general membership category and junior membership is $35.

The Eagles membership increase ( 3,054 last year) is due to growth accross every major category and a targeted campaign to make the most of premiership success.

That 3,391 includes adults and kids that have proactively signed up to be members.

Please note we have approx 2,400 ADDITIONAL kids who do receive free introductory Eagles Junior Membership Kits as part of their
Auskick or Junior Metro Club registrations. These are not included in official figures, although many proactively sign up in following years once their introductory pack expires.

Thanks Phil, didn't realise we had as many members last year, though it was more <2500, so that figure is believable and good to hear.

To be fair, North don't have lights, and haven't played Port or Norwood at home yet.

Home match crowd figures don't always necessarily reflect the home team's supporters rocking up in droves.
I was at Woodville earlier in the year and the Glenelg travelling support would have been well over 50% of the attendance.
This is where the figures are at best speculative in what they may represent.

Yes would be interesting if there were stats that showed the breakdown of crowds.
Ive been to games at Woodville where the travelling support is twice as big as the home support.
TSG is also correct, Some clubs have the visit of big crowd pullers still to come
