does this mean that they could give him a massively back ended contract? give him 3 or 4 years, but have 2013 only worth $400k to him, the when he's on the veterans list (this means only half his salary is counted in the cap?) he goes up to $800k+?

is that a plausible plan?

Yes. A three year contract could lump much of the cash into his third year.

Definately a plausible plan, in 2 seasons time he becomes an unrestricted free agent, so the longer we can sign him to avoid this happening again the better!!

To be honest if he is going anywhere it will not be Freo. He is more likely to take a big deal from the GWS in my opinion. I just cant' see him keen to be over there. That said money talks.

Still the funny thing about all this is that Freo are normally good at keeping this under rapts. Must of been a player agent who let it out hahaha.

GWS have pulled out the chase apparantly.
Are very happy with their kids progress and feel Cloke's wages and demands would be too high.
They will still be chasing an established player for next season

How will they go without Power, Cornes and McDonald next year?
All three have been prolific for them and taken the heat off some of the younger, immature bodies.
Not saying Cloke is the answer, but surely they'd be mad not to have a crack.

GWS will carry all three of those blokes again in 2013. Looks like they will play 15+ games this year, if they get 10+ out of them next year it would be worth it, considering the impact they have had on field this year.

I thought they were moving into full time assistant coach roles next year?
