Im not a stats man but is Bennetts 17 clearances for North some kind of record or something!

Certainly the highest this season (Allan, Lyons and Liddle have all had 13) and last year (Allan had 11). No way of comparing pre-2011 as stats were kept by individual clubs so all would have different interpretations.

A Norwood U/18 player had 20 clearances in round 6 v Norwood this season which is the highest I've seen. Sam Mitchell had 18 for Hawthorn some seasons back in the AFL.

Sammy Gray and Killer were great on Saturday, Wilson keep doing the hard work and might have just turned a little corner with his confidence. Beard was solid in defence. Corey Grove is one of those strange body shapes who despite no real definition to his body is strong and competes in the air by working hard to contests, an interesting CHF prospect.

Bennett was excellent for the Cocks all day and although ridden all day, Allan had another pretty usefull day out. Problem for North was that other than the two mentioned above they hardly had any influential runners out there.

I thought the crowd was very poor, almost as poor as the Sunday Mail write up on the game. It wasn't that bad a game to watch.

I only saw it on TV as I was in SYD but North's first quarter was poor vs. Port who were the complete opposite were up and at it from the start and played with a good intensity for 4 quarters. North lucky to be as close as they were at quarter time.

I agree with Booney to an extent that there is too much reliance by other North players on Allan and Bennett but we had enough of the ball for the last 3 quarters to win the game but some very poor set shot kicking really cost us plus some dumb decision making and disposal turnover (some not under any real pressure at times) hurt us late espcially along with some poor tackling which resulted in some free's for Port and ultimately goals. Take nothing away from Port they deserved their win but throw that game in with the Round 1 loss to South and we should be 5-2 not 3-4. Very frustrating!

I will await and see what the fall out is re changes for this week? Allan could miss with a suspension, Moore I suspect may get a game with the Power but certainly Blee has to go - he is appalling but Moore started that way too with North so maybe there is hope for him in the future?

Wilson's non goal in the last quarter looked like it went pretty much straight through the middle when I saw it on a replay after the game.

Correct - he is from the Belconnen Magpies in the Canberra League. Played in the same side as Andrew Ainger from South Adelaide.

Sorry for bringing up Central in this topic but it is slightly relevant is blokes like Andrew Hayes, Trent Goodrem and even as far back as Heath Hopwood have come from playing in lesser competitions in NSW. They were guns all in those comps but really struggled early to keep up to speed at SANFL level. Both played alot of football in the ressies but found there feet in their 2-3 years of SANFL level. Definate worth persisting with and in Bennetts case they appear to have picked up an absolute gem to compliment Allan.

History suggest these players may struggle in their first year but dont write them off to early.

Bennett had the skills and build etc. when he first came across from the ACT but even he was shocked at the step up to SANFL from the next level down and it took him some time to get the required fitness plus pick up the pace of the game but he came into his own last year and is even better this year.

Yep - I agree. Some weeks he looks very good but under pressure he can cough up some bad turnovers and he has no right foot - always wheels and turns to his left. Amato and Thiele stuffed up a deadset goal with a poor fwd line entry late in the last quarter with other North players free and flowing fwd to link up - that would have had us less than a goal down with plenty of time to kick another 1 or 2. Amato I can excuse as he has played only 3 games from memory and that was his first for 2012.

Yeah I really think your boys were up and about in the last 15-20 minutes of the game, and between Boras' miss and the other one you mentioned, you really could have had all the running and were a BIG chance to mow them down.

Watched the replay of the game last night - spot on OTR

Apologies if its been mentioned but as an aside last Saturdays game would have to be the worst exhibition of bouncing by umpires EVER. And the ground is in immaculate condition at the moment (usually is at Alberton). Time to throw it up or get in some umpires with the skills to do it.
And WTF was with them having to wait for a green light from the ABC before starting the play after goals. The ABC doesnt show ads between goals! If the people in the OB van dont have the skills to time their replays in the available time they have then they shouldnt be there too. The SANFL really does have the feel of a circus at times.

Agree the bounce should be gone from the SANFL. Hate it when a team gets an unfair advantage for absolutley no reason at all like when the ball is bounced and the bounce favours one of the ruckmen.

Just watched the replay of the game.

I thought Kuliwokowski (Sp?) had a bigger impact on the game than Allan in the first half, including the goal Allan cost his side with the report. Not sure how many possesions Kuliwokowski had in the first half but all the seemed to be damaging and 3 times he was directly responsible for a Port goal.

While Allan missed a relatively easy shot at goal at the 23rd minute mark of the second quarter with North only 12 points down (thats been my biggest critisim of Allan, blokes like Gowans, Callinan just ice them kicks 99.9% of the time) Port then took the ball coast to coast and kicked an easy goal.

Half time was probably the time to run someone else on Allan for half a quarter or so as Allans elite fitness levels are well documented i dont think Kuliwokoski could run with him anymore.
