Dangerfield

No disresect to Adelaide but the footy is better in Melbourne. You cannot tell me that a 22 year old would prefer to play footy in Adelaide.
Take Essendon for example. If Dangerfield decided to play for Essendon he would play in front of 60000 fans at least 6 or 7 games a year, Anzac Day, Dream Time, Essendon v Carlton at the G, Essendon v Hawthorn.
What does he get here. A showdown. What a joke.
The footy is real in Melbourne.

No disrespect to Essendon but he's a Geelong boy. If he's coming home he's coming to Cat park. If Dangerfield decided to play for Geelong he would play in front of 90000 fans when it matters. What would he get at Essendon, a Grand Final in April. What a joke. The footy is real in late September.

Tend to agree with REB i believe IF Dangerfield was to leave i think it would be to Geelong.

This being said i dont think he will leave as my mail says Tippett to Brisbane for huge coin which frees up money for Dangerfield.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

As I have said elsewhere I'd make sure we kept Dangerfield, Sloane, and Walker, before worrying about Tippett.
But I'd probably keep him too - if possible and affordable.

If he stays at Adelaide he will play more finals football in the next 5 years than if he goes to Geelong.

We saw today what they are like without Scarlett & Bartel. They've had success and now they are on the decline, that's how the how system of AFL footy works. Unless you're Melbourne or Richmond of course.

Those two players don't make a team mate. Yes we were rubbish. Adelaide played alot better and were better at the clearances. I wouldn't say Geelong are on the decline yes we have an aging list but we do have the youngsters coming through. We will make the finals this year so I wouldn't base that assumption on one game. In the last few games form has been down but players can be out of form. I would wait til atleast July before writing the cats off.

Top win by your boys today you must be stoked. We look to be a 6-10 side this year but if we can get our big three together we can beat anyone anywhere. While Scarlo doesn't have many miles on the clock I don't think you can say the same about Bartel. Geelong have been rebuilding on the sly a la Sydney for the past couple of seasons and while we may not win the flag this year the games are being put into the youngsters and we'll still play plenty of finals footy in the next five years.

Especially if we nab Dangerfield. ;)

Yes we saw what Geelong are like without Scarlett, Bartel, Varcoe, Wojinski, Vardy and Menzel. Any team playing interstate against in form opposition with six of their best 22 out are going to struggle. Add to that Gilles and Christensen got hurt (all over when Bundy went down though) and Walker's delightful Head slamming tackle on Taylor and it is fair to say it just wasn't our day.

Friggin Football Park blow up the joint I say.

Geelong will slide down just like every other club does in the AFL. They have done well to win what they have while they've had their turn in the sun, which is what it's all about. Not long until their older players such as Scarlett, Chapman, Enright and Orren Stephenson finish up and those types are impossible to replace.

There has been lots of talk in the media about Adeliade not having enough money to keep both dangerfeild and tippett. How could Geelong with their star studded line up have more room for danger then the crows?? The crows have a young list and should have plenty of room in the cap for both. Selwood, bartel, scarlett, stevie j, hawkins, enright, kelly and the list goes on. Maybe im missing something simple but i would think adelaide should b able to compete in monetary terms but obviously other factors come into play.

If Dangerfield wants to move to a Victorian club it wont be a money-based decision.
