Early days ...thrash.

Kill em All, Ride the Lightning - Metallica
Killing is my business..., Peace Sells - Megadeth

Iron Maiden are the NWOBM (New Wave Of British Metal) in the same genre of Judas Priest, Saxon, Def Leppard etc.

Definately not trash. ;)

Is Exodus the band Metallica poached Kirk Hammet from when they fired Mustaine?

Megadeth's "Rust in Peace" the best for me! Holy Wars being the greatest song ever, but other classics like Tornado of Souls and Hangar 18 on there as well. Plus tracks like 5 Magics, Lucretia, and Polaris which are amazing, but ive never seen them come out at their live show (tho im sure they did back in the early 90s when the album came out!).

I assume everyone here has watched "The Big 4" DVD that come out recently? A live show in Bulgaria featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Top stuff!

Yep, he was the main link in the Exodus chain.

Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962) is the lead guitarist and a songwriter in the heavy metal band Metallica and has been a member of the band since 1983. Before joining Metallica he formed and named the band Exodus. In 2003, Hammett was ranked 11th on Rolling Stone's list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

I used to own "Ultra hard core mega heavy punk metal thrash" by Depression, that was good for a wild Saturday night at home!

Face of Despair, and Toxic Waltz both got regular airplay on the twin tape deck.
Couldn't pick a stand out thrash album- my favourite Slayer album is South of Heaven, but I heard it before Reign in Blood, and by the time I had a listen, it's impact was lost.
Master of Puppets is a great album.
Honourable mentions too-
Forbidden- Twisted Into Form
Kreator- Toxic Trace
Misfits- Earth AD (not a thrash album per se- fast enough, but lacking the complex guitar arrangements.)
Coroner- Mental Vortex
Anthrax- Persistence of Time

Must add Sepultura Beneath the Remain- although it borders on being Death Metal.
Agree with SOD- great album.
