We let a huge opportunity slip against SHOC on Saturday with us having 24 scoring shots to 14, bad kicking is bad football as they say. Lads were gutted after the game as we had SHOC on toast but they kicked the clutch goals when they needed to.

Doesn't get any easier this week against TTG, how injured is Noske Yank Man will he play do you think? We're loving the challenge up here in Div 7 :D

I don't think so, it will be just another game but with a bit more emotion. There has never really been any ill-feeling between the players from each club, most of those who defected are still mates with a lot of those who stayed.
There's a heap of new faces over the past year and a bit aswell.

Almost as anticipated as Glenunga v Fitzroy!

Smithfield = true ferals

Its great how a numnut can come out and punch up ateenage kid 6 or 7 times then throwin the old headbutt just to raise his sword to be the ultimate feral of all

And isnt it great that on a footy field u might get 5 weeks suspension but on the street you'd get 5 years jail

Hey come to smithfield where not only u can play footy but u also get to practise your ufc manuvores on real people!! (best punch up wins a carton)

 ok maybe an over emotional vent there but one of our players now has his face smashed in and nothings been said (just quietly been slid under the table). Now its been said and as a rep of the whole competition its hoped that measures get put in place to prevent it happening again. Blah end of story

if this has happened then the club has every right to lodge a complaint with the League, this will then be investigated
no point getting on here and hoping something happens, get the club to go through the correct process
Dont think anyone would condone that sort of thing

I heard there was a bit of a melee in the 2nd quarter but the match looked pretty placid whilst I was there. The Smithfield Football Club heirachy would definitely not condone thuggery on or off the field.

I back you up on that, a couple of years ago a so called supporter belted a team mate if mine and ran off the coward. Smithfield followed the incident up and dealt with it appropriately.

I'm sure they will do the same with the correct methods of complaint adhered to.

I can top all of that, at an elimination final at smithfield. I saw a wife drive over her husbands head, she accidently knocked the hand brake and it proceeded to roll down a little hill onto her husband... the bloke got up promptly and finished his can of beam.. classic stuff. ...
i know that has nothing to do with whats goin on, i just thought it was a funny story...
on a serious note though, all the times ive played smithfield, ive never had a problem.. Always hard games but never a problem..

:) essentially lets not take swipes at smithies all day, was more a consolidation for a mate who has to endure 2 weeks of pain with a mangled face. all clubs have had their incidents and thats football

hopefully their club leaders can put their foot down a little, demand it of players that its not acceptable and consequently by coming forward like this, their standard is improved too. goodluck to all teams on weekend

It is rubbish to complain about a team or club simply because of history and of a single incident. All clubs have had players reported for incidents, so to single one out for a single incident is wrong.

Smithfield's reputation has never been great. I also heard about that incident that marbles is speaking of. I wasn't at the game so can only go by what I heard. There was a fair bit of spite all game, and one young lad wore a couple of punches to the face. Smithfield isn't the only team with an average reputation in this division; these teams do little to help themselves with the same sorta sh!t happening most weeks.
If people don't wanna play the ball, then dont play the game at all. If people think they're tough because they can throw a couple of punches behind play, or at the younger opponents they can think again. Nothing tough about people who throw fists on the footy field.
From what I understand the current coach at Smithfield coached Central United last year, where his players would also go the knuckle at the drop of a hat. Smithfield's coach isn't setting the greatest example, threatening to headbutt Henley's C grade coach at one stage on Saturday.

Please dont ramp up this stuff on a forum, if it is as serious as you say then report it to the league, so that it can be handled correctly and if true the offenders can be punished as per the rules

To tarnish a club cause of incident that you dont want to report seems like nothing more than a cheap shot, especially at a club that is rebuilding and got some quality people involved

I am sure that Henley would know how to go about the correct process, considering they have an esteemed member of their Club that sits at the same table I do ;)

Think Noske will carry his injuries most games. Has a big knee brace, so has had more than 1 reco you would expect. I would bank on him playing. Havn't seen you guys yet but if you are young you will need some big bodies in the square to go with Mount and Uncle. They are big strong clever units with a lot of years top line experience. They are their real guns. Good to see you guys doing well in Div 7. I have a few mates at FP from my Townie years. Always had respect. You must wonder about TTG's mental state having been run over in the last quarter of the last 2 games,15 goals against to 4 goals for.

Was marbles at the game? Or is fabricating things for Henley and who are these "other" clubs he is waffling on about in Div 7. Be careful who you aim at marbles. Facts are the only thing this forum is interested in.

I was at the game and I am a Henley supporter.
There was an incident in the 2nd quarter in the fwd pocket for Henley that went like this:
- Henley player copped a high tackle from a bloke a foot taller than him. it was an unsporting high tackle intended to either hurt or intimidate him. probably not a send off if the umpire had seen it.
- Henley player remonstrated with the offending player (gave him a few pushes to his chest), ... basically inviting the bloke to punch him
- Henley player gets punched in the mouth

As for the guy that belted him - he looked pretty rough and prone to that sort response.

so if the Henley player is complaining about getting belted, perhaps he could consider a more appropriate course of action next time he gets an unsporting high tackle. ie COP IT AND GET ON WITH THE BLOODY GAME!

Players, coaches and spectators respect that a lot more, and he's much less likely to give you a rude high tackle next time.

But, he bit off more than he could chew and was lucky not to have his jaw broken.

I'm not sure what the Henley player thought he was going to achieve by carrying on with it, all he did was rizz up the Smithies crowd, and a few of the Smithies players, so for the next few minutes there were a few reckless tackles that followed - putting his team-mates at risk.

Just play footy FFS.

It obviosly depends on what the ump saw aye. Luke McDonnell gave a TTG player a slap to the face and got 3 matches. If I was Henley I would push the barrow. A genuine strike on that basis should be 10.Regardless of intimidation, undiscipline is undiscipline and out they should go.
