we've definately got a better side than last year Q, dont judge us by that tripe we served up in round one! haha

i'd say its a more even comp but without playing mawson lakes, woody sth or BOS i cant really comment on it being a stronger comp.

Well we have played Woody South, Mawsons and BOS. My feeling at the moment compared to last year - Woody South the stand out. Good quality players all over the ground. Always seem dangerous! Mawsons remind me a bit of BOS last year. A good team with some quality forwards and mids and move the footy well but are beatable (even though we couldn't do it!) BOS are a little off last years team from my point of view but we got them round 1 and they may not have had their full squad to choose from. We are very similar to our team from last year. Not sure on the rest. A much more even comp no doubt. No teams that you can confidently pencil in as a win and no games that you wouldn't rate your own team of having some chance of winning. Just my thoughts at this early stage of the season.

Mawson Lakes very, very good. Set the game up in the first quarter kicking ten goals to our one goal, caught us napping. Too many passengers for us yesterday.

How do they and Blackfriars compare to the likes of Kenilworth & Glenunga from last season?

I was having a discussion with someone about this on the weekend. Overall I don't think this year is as strong as D6 last year. Kenilworth had a team full of superstars and Glenunga weren't far behind.

I don't think BOS have as strong a team as last year, yet they are undefeated. Haven't seen TOS, Woody Sth or Lockleys yet, so maybe it's too early to judge.

i disagree a bit Q..its stronger..2011 had a weak ingle farm and henley C grade..this year it hasnt..there are no easy games..D6 was a weak year in 2011 imo..kenilworth and glenunga had nothing on the GG team that came through div 6 a few years ago..i see the cats this week so we will have a better idea then..maybe at the top it might not be as good as KFC or GFC circa 2011 but who knows..my point is there are no easy games..

Hey zed! We were better the GG that year!

at last something i agree with mighty hounds on :)

eventhough they are now in div 4 and we are in div 6, just let me take a stroll down memory lane zed. not just better THAT day but rd 1 under lights out there by about 10 goal, cant recall what happened in rd 10 at our ground. then, the second semi out there, down 4.3 to 0.0 late in the first quarter and get up by 2 goals. they almost didn't make it to the GF against hectorville in the prelim. then the GF was controlled by BOS.

i remember vividly the trash talk all day in the first encounter in '08 at our home game from them. you can't make up for losing a GF in the following years minor round game!

oh well, that's all history, but as they say 'proud of the past, confident of the future'.

and i'll stand by my memories, that's all i've got :)
GG came of age in '08 and scudds helped massively.
we were not really close to our team of '07 in '08. no millikan, sonogan, lee, m rugari, swiderski, hender, parente

Well it looks like CLG and TOS disagree with your weaker theory as they believe they aren’t either. Woody Souths were 1 game away from playing Div 5 finals last season, Lockleys look like they’ve improved and our opponent on Saturday Ingle Farm definitely have. Injuries and availabilities are going to play a big part in 2012 in Div 6, so therefore from what i've seen this year and from all reports from the other clubs I too argue that the competition is stronger than it was last year.

Just my opinion. I agree wither TOSSER though that it is a more even division than last year, doesn't mean it's stronger though.

All comes down to opinion. Mine is a more even comp is stronger than 2 strong teams, 6 relatively even teams and then 2 poor teams. Everyone has different opinions

The only time GG knocked us off sprint was at home it was our first loss for 07 as well they got us by 4 goals or there abouts. I will still to this day say we had a div 5 calibre team that year. The comeback in that second semi was just amazing!
