He only said "compromise", which only luck controls. Centrals don't have much of that lately.

I don't think these are mutually exclusive. For example, Claremont were WAFL premiers and Foxtel Cup runners-up last year. It is a gross oversimplification to say that if you play a full-strength side, you'll not do well in the SANFL.

We must be unique in the SANFL. ;)

I don't understand why they can't play this in the pre-season parallel to the NAB Cup.

Don't bother with grouping, just run three rounds of matches, best four clubs move to the semis then the last two standing play the GF. Its an absolute no brainer.

No need for trial matches for participating teams. But FFS, play the games at state league grounds and if the AFL commentators can't bear to leave their cushy boxes, p*ss them off and get the guys from the ABC to do it!!!

2012 Foxtel Cup

Postby RustyCage » Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:52 pm

Yes I'm sure it's the commentators who are forcing the games to be played at AFL venues. If people complain about half arsed teams being picked now just think how it will be if the games are instead of trial games!

Re the crowds .... what did they seriously expect playing the game at 11am (in this case 12pm) in the morning.

Not to mention having a Canberra team play a Perth team in Western Sydney ???

A night game on say Sunday or even Monday would still fill a TV content hole whilst maybe draw

..........................

Still like to see them do it FA cup style,

let the minnows (QLD, TAS, NT, NSW, ACT) play first two rounds for some competitive games to come up with two teams.

Put those two among the two GF sides from SA, WA, Vic to make 8 sides in the 3rd round.

Means minnows play against peers
and there is some honour to get to the elite eight.

And means elite teams play a max of 3 games not 4.

......................................

Currently it is just such a poor presentation of state league leval football.

BTW

have missed last 3 weeks ... thought commentary 1st week was quite good ... for those who watched has that been maintained or is it back to being AFL focussed????.

Just watching a bit of this Sydney Hills Eagles vs Mt Gravatt game. Ross Tungatalum looks a real talent from the Eagles. Looks like he was on St Kilda's rookie list a few years ago and played in the NT since. Is only 21. Any SANFL clubs chased him?

He played for NT Thunder last year.

Good win for the Vultures (only 2nd win for their season as they are 2nd last in NEAFL Qld)

Good luck to them when they play Claremont in the quarters.
