From what I heard, he injured it just before half time, walked to the side of the field and stayed there and an ambulance was called. Teams got told that we would play until the ambulance came and then the match would have to stop to allow the ambulance to get across the field. Ambulance came with about 10 minutes left of the 3rd and the game got delayed by about 15-20mins. Another ambulance was then required and we were told we would play and the game would get delayed again once the 2nd ambulance arrived. Teams got in position to play and the 2nd ambulance arrived and game got postponed for another 10 minutes. Heard the player was from north reserves as well.

The player was Kym Edwards, younger brother of Richmond player Shane. Post-poned the game for ages. So much so that I got bored and went home !! Ridiculous wait.... Not sure why he wasn't moved over to the other side of the oval where the ambulance could have arived and not affected the game. As for the result.... very disappointing once again and the sooner we learn to kick straight the quicker we'll start winning some games. All credit to Heccies though who moved the ball well and cleanly and finished when they needed to. No credit to the umpires though who were shizenhousen....

choccies, how are the boys from Modbury doing this season. L Chenoweth, S Scudds? I heard C Wandkte did his ACL which is a shame because he had a great year last year. just like to know how they are going.

Luke is settling in really well Hawkboy. Had an interrupted pre-season when he was hit by a forklift at work and had some back issues but is doing well now. Sammy Scudds is doing well and already become a good leader around the club and especially on field with the younger blokes. Shane is down to about 145 kilos now and kicked a couple on the weekend and is improving each week on a special fitness program. Corey had a great pre-season and was playing really well in our first trial before doing his knee which was terrible for the bloke. But they are all settling in well and hopefully we can start pulling our fingers out sooner rather than later !!

Really sorry to hear about Corey. Shane on a diet? OK keep him off the grog and he will fit into a jumper better. Thanks for the update Choccies and good luck for the season.

A bit of history in the past. Div 5 in 2006, heccies lost to golden grove (who were last) near the end of the season which got heccies relegated as well. Div 6 in 2007, heccies lost to GG in the prelim after leading by 3-4 goals at half time and kicking 2.10ish in the 2nd quarter. Add to that, Heccies lost two jnr GFs in the 16/17s in 2005/2006. A few players from those jnr teams are still playing snrs at the moment and both teams movements up the grades have a lot to do with the players in those jnr sides (e.g. paul wootton n todd sheppard).

No doubt Mitchell is a very good coach looking at his coaching records and no doubt very loud. His prematch speech seemed like they were down by 10 goals. Would be easy for someone to watch a match and think the way he carries on the sidelines isnt a good example to his players and could easily filter down to they playing group. What he does works so why change it.

Don't think so. Unless it happened before 2006. Reminds me of one of our players who kicked 1.6 against you in that prelim

Looks as though the Heccie boys have ruffled a few Golden Grove feathers. Seems to be mixed (read: inaccurate) views on a particular incident as well. I would have thought that if there was anything malicious ALL the GG lads on here would be riled up, whereas only a couple are upset. Accusations of "after the play sling tackle" and "late hit/dumping" are just plain incorrect. The GG player was chased down form behind by number 24; it was probably a push in the back, as he went down with him, but it was barely a FAD. The resulting injury was unfortunate, but that's football. Apart form that incident, it was nothing but a regular, tough game of footy - end of story.

Oh, and here's a thought: next time you think a team is playing rough, don't wait for the return fixture to do something about it ...

I agree the incident to me didn't seem anything too bad. Unfortunate and move on...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
