Rnd 7 - Norwood v Glenelg @ Coopers Stadium (Fri N 4/5)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Apr 30, 2012 11:01 am

So the undefeated Redgles will now host the Bays, who are coming off a good win against Sturt last week. Norwood have another couple of injury concerns, while AFL selections could play a part in the make up of both sides.

This should be a ripper contest and deserves to have a good crowd of around 7k in attendance.

Norwood by plenty, i reckon Glenelg are still a bit away from beating the in form top side on their home deck.

Hopefully crowd of 10K plus, 8k plus would be a good result though.

This fixture attracted the highest crowd in the minor round last season (8011), and I wouldn't be surprised if it did again this year.

I think the two clubs are also recognising the 30th anniversary of the 1982 GF.

I think Norwood will be too good, but I hope Glenelg stick to the gamplan for 4 quarters

Incorrect, the Bays will celebrate the 31st anniversary of the 1981 Prelminary Final.

weather being partly cloudy, nice cool night, the afl game on tv certainly wont be worth watching. One supreme SANFL side so far this season v a team that is getting the job done with some younger lads.

crowd should be in excess of 9k

Dedja, was that the game when the breeze swung around and the Bays had it for 3 quarters? Not that we played that well, but I do remember hearing on the radio it was a 5 goal advantage.
As for this game, can't wait, 8000 i'm guessing.

Yep, blew a gale and was pissing down all match ... the Bays might have had a slight advantage with the wind for more the 2 quarters ;)

I think a min of 8000, mayne 10000 depending on the weather and if the Tiger Train turns up.

Yes GL had it for the first quarter
Right on Quarter time the wind switched
So GL had the breeze in the 1ST/2ND/LAST quarters

It was the first game I had seen for the year
I went overseas in Febuary, ended up in Darwin in September 81, having the time of my life
Came back to Adelaide earlier to see this Final
How I wish I didnt, it was prob my least enjoyable day at an SANFL Football game

Remember the game well. Bays started with a 7 goal breeze which turned 180 degrees at 1/4 time. 10 minutes into the second quarter the heavens opened up and the game was stuffed by half time. Needless to say, as I predicted on the day, the Bays were creamed by Port in the GF.
Now if the weather wasn't against Norwood that day & they'd played off against the cockle divers the following week............

The Bays will be trying out an 'alternate' strip in this game on Friday night. It is the predominantly yellow jumper, with a leaping Tiger on the front, that the club had done up at the start of the year for training. I've seen a few fans wearig it at games and like the look of it, so looking forward to see it in action during this game.
