Perhaps you're right.
I believe he was rehearsing some of these this afternoon.

Somersault: This is a full turning or rotation of the body on an imaginary horizontal axis running through the swimmer hips.

Springboard: A diving board that is flexible and that can be adjusted to have more or less spring. In Olympic competition, the springboard is three meters above the water, but in other competitions the springboard may only be 1 meter above the water.

Standing Dive: This is a forward facing dive, from a standing position, which can be preformed from either the end of a platform or springboard.

Straight: See Layout.

Take-off: When a diver launches him or her-self from the platform or springboard.

We dont seem fit enough. We've been overrun a lot in second halves, especially last quarters.

I'd say Bamford is on borrowed time at the moment.

Spectral shift from a couple of years ago when Port were finishing okay but were chronically slow starters.

Really disappointed for Port... at the same time, REALLY happy for South... Panthers seem to have got themselves organised now, but I can't help but think that a bunch of teams are going to be up and down and frustrate fans. Will anyone actually be dominant all year? Maybe Norwood and Glenelg will manage it, but the rest might be a 50-50 prospect week in and week out...

Brett Ebert
When having a set shot yesterday, late in the game
removed his mouth guard , placed it in his sock, b4 shooting for goal
Dunno how often he does this interesting quirk

Question is :
Does removing your mouth guard actually help with goal kicking accuracy ?

quite a few players do it ... here and in the AFL.

I've always been buggered* why they do it.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Not only don't I understand why it would help, but the thought of getting sock sweat on my mouthguard before putting it back is a tad unappealing.

It can be hard to breathe properly wearing a mouth guard at times, particularly when you're blowing especially hard. Removing it when having a set shot helps regulate your breathing thus enabling a more relaxed state for the player. Doesn't always help though, some players just can't kick straight.

Yeah, I was going to say that is the case in regards to breathing easier, because I know it was that for me when I was playing - even though I was probably in the category of not being able to kick straight - !!!

That is an interesting obversation you make Macca and one I agree with. On Saturday, I was sitting within 6 or 7 metres of the Maggies Coaching Box and on more than one occassion, I could hear Tony Bamford quite frustratingly yell out 'WORK RATE.... (insert Port player here)' which makes you wonder if a player's work rate is being questioned, it is probably because they don't have the fitness to get to the next contest or chase harder etc etc. That being said, I also heard pre-game that Bangers had put the side through a big session of running during the week, after his disappointment in the side's performance against the Dogs last weekend.

I'd also throw routine in there. Just like Lloyd used to throw grass up in the air when the roof was shut at Docklands. Stupidity, but it was part of his routine, which he did every set shot.

Probably the same for Ebo. Sports psychology has shown that robot like repetition on a given task can improve success rates over a large sample.

Didn't see the game (damn you black sambuuuucca!).

But our season is F___ed now IMO. I know there's a long way to go, but after seeing the performances against Norwood and Central, we're a shambles at times and the work rate that saw us be competitive last year is completely AWOL.

Would like to think we could still compete for 5th, but Banger and the boys better sort their shit out asap.

Not acceptable Port.

Very surprised at Port's results to date. I had pencilled them in to threaten the top 3 this year.
They have only beaten the team that every other team has beaten.
A long way to go though and a couple of wins can change the whole season.
