Mark Young?

haha, no mate, Anthony Young, not even sure if Mark Young knows when we train! Anyway, all of this is ancient history, especially the youngy saga. And last years D grade coach was offered the C grade role this year but due to time commitments and travel wasnt able to commit for the time needed by a Div 7 coach.

Not sure if Mark knows anything really ;) Definitely wont be taking home the showcase on Sale of the Century.

I am not saying that your comments arent warranted but there is no way the club could risk brining the D grade coach back and having to go through another year like 2011, the committee was promised that it wasnt going to happen again in 2011 and not only did it continue but it got worse, the C grade are flourishing under the new coach and the A grade squad are really coming together, depth is much better than it has been in the last few years and minus a few D graders who were new to the club most players are back out playing C & B grade.. your comments are certainly interesting.

I have a real distaste for anyone that goes onto these forums, claims to be a supporter of there club and then publicly slanders them and brings up past issues that have been rectified, things happened in 2011 that we were not happy about as a club, the feeling and unity this year has been a major step up and great things are happening, if you do support MFC then maybe you should get to the club and help rectify your problems in person instead of being a keyboard warrior and making 'big changes' from your computer. No doubt you clicked like on KONY 2012 and felt you saved the children of Uganda as well, top shelf effort pal.

My issue isnt in the content of what you are saying, only in the forum that you are choosing to share it. . i have been very very vocal on alot of the topics you mention in your posts, but i choose the correct time and place to make my point and changes have been made because of my actions. Advising the SAAFL supporters of inhouse issues that are in the past doesnt do much for the image of the club you have been a part of for many years.

This is a forum! I have made my points at the club, to the appropriate people without any results. If you wield so much influence, fix the issues. If not stop crying when someone else shares their views. MFC has an image that will not be altered by my comments. How powerful do you consider my words? Get off your highhorse and accept that people can have an opinion and share it without trying to be destructive.

Hey fellas, I think each club has it's "political agenda's" and MFC is certainly not immune. Perhaps principles and club success need to come before personalities? Having said that, there is a definite difference this year to the previous two, particularly in the lower grades. The youth policy is blooding some very talented young footballers, they may not set the field on fire this season, but if the club can develop and hang onto them, bodes well for future success! As with any club, short term hardship/upheaval can reap beneficial and successful longevity in higher divisions. I get the feeling that this is where the club is at the moment. My two cents!

Spot on Modnog. Hawkboy sounds like one of those disgruntled Sandbaggers that played in Modbury's Div 7 Reserves side last year and was denied his cheap premiership Medal

Well done to Modbury for making the right and tough decisions. Wouldn't surprise to seem them become a powerhouse again.

North Pines over TTG! Bit of an upset there....

Not the greatest outing for Parkies but it was good to win without playing great. Been a fair while since the B's and A's have started out 3-0.

Well done to Luke McDonnell on his 200th. Great bloke, ordinary hand-passer, awesome footballer.

Also hope "young" Boyd the ageing umpire pulls up OK, had a couple of tumbles and looked to be in strife for a second there. All the best and it was good too see both sides show immediate concern.

Smithfield notched up a 64 point win over Flinders Uni. They had a few handy in's and there's a couple more not far away.

Especially when TTG led by 5 goals at 3/4 time. Complacency maybe? You take your foot off the gas against Nth Pines and let them run and they are unstoppable. 9 goal last 1/4.

Flinders Pk are the real deal with a good win over Angle Vale, Henley by 5 pts over a much improved Modbury and well done to Smithfield with their 1st win, gonna be a long year for the Crabs I reckon.

Modbury's loss to Henley was the result of inaccurate kicking particularly in the first quarter and 3-5 minute lapses of concentration and aggression at the ball in each quarter. I'm certain from the discussion at the bar in the Henley clubrooms after the game that Modbury certainly gave Henley something to think about. Half time score was 7.3 to 7.7 Modbury's way. Got the feeling that Henley players expected a 10 -12 goal easy win. To the Modbury boys credit, when Henley skipped away to a 3 or 4 goal lead in the last quarter they battled hard and slowly chipped away reducing the deficit to just 5 points. 1-2 minutes more and the result could have been different with Modbury heading into attack as the siren sounded. Gullies losing to Northpines and suddenly the competition seems pretty tight with any of the teams currently in 3rd to 7th able to make up the final five come September. Makes for an interesting and competitive year in Div 7, which is just what everyone likes to see!

Err cant see how it was modbury's inaccuracy that brought them a loss. It was some their outstanding shots on goal that actually kept them in the game. Their full 4 quarter effort compared to henley's do only what ya have to attitude is what kept the challenge so close. On 3 occasions Henley kicked away with big 3 or 4 goals leads

I bet the modbury coach (if its not u) was full of praise and had only positive things to say. Was a full team effort by the hawks, from a henley perspective. Sharks however were quick to take foot off pedal at times as im sure you saw, which was most disappointing and not acceptable.

Hawks have some good finishers there. Big chunky bloke up forward has got some gun skills and the skinny beach kid ruckman had the ball on a string at times. Excluding the victory, u guys probably got more out of day than we did

Modbury were classy too. Not much dirtyness and played cleaned footy. Well done to the club

I thought the game was played hard and fair. Listening to the new Modbury coach I was really impressed with his attitude and positive comments. Not being switched on after half time was really costly, but credit to the boys for really fighting it out.

A big question. Can anyone clear this up for me?
I heard a rummour on the weekend that a couple of clubs are keeping the same umps all year. ie an association ump follows a team all year and only umpires the one team. Is this normal in this grade?? There were a few interesting things to come out of Saturdays game.
I was of the opinion that the leauge appoints umps and that eliminates the affiliation scenario ie club umps.
