Maybe they're just giving their supporters what they want.
How often do you hear supporters yell out "Kick the bloody thing" ? ;)

24 -13 suggests it might not have been a bad ploy anyway?

Gonna be interesting in coming weeks to see which teams are the real deal and who might be a genuine contender to meet perrenial Grand Finalists Willunga in the Grand Final.

I just thought that a couple of times they had better options going forward instead of trying to snap over shoulder all the time.

watched strath play last night and they look like a completely different team to last year, alot of regular players missing. would be tipping them to be out the finals this year which would mean we should see a bottom 5 team from last year step in.

With the points system, they probably need a year of develop few kids, and will then be able to spend up a bit more next year with some increased points allocated due to finishing down the ladder.

Jackpot Jim what do reckon of the crowd at Strath last nite, i reckon it was easily on par with a GF crowd,it was a huge turn up with cars having to park out on the road, the GSFL would be rubbing their hands 2gether as gate takings would've been huge,i couldnt stay for the ANZAC presentation for BOG,does anyone know who it was.

Good to see the ex mitcham blokes getting a few kicks for the eagles...rumour has it that Brett Ellis is getting a bit home sick and wants to move back to Mitcham where he played footy for the past 15 years of his life??? can anyone confirm this at all? I heard from a good source he isnt finding the footy at all and wants to get back to the dominance he had in the SAAFL...Him and Tommy Caesar look like they have been indulging in too many of Mclaren Vale's finest drops throughout the off season and a struggling for fitness..

Cant really comment on the crowd size as i left about 1/4 time of the 'B' grade. Was quite big even then as per usual with a Strath v Creek game anyway. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it rivalled a GF size crowd although GF crowds are a bit deceptive as many supporters just watch their team and leave like i did today. ;)
Would be interesting if an accurate crowd figure was available to compare with say SANFL matches. About 4000 at the SANFL Anzac day clash between Eagles and Centrals.
Would be amazing if a country game rivalled that.
btw, must mention that the oval surface was in immaculate condition imo bar on and around the cricket pitch area which was a bit gluey as you'd expect.

Good to hear - I was surprised how quiet it seemed at Strath against Victor, esp since it was round 1.

Forgive me BW but does this mean that these two blokes went to the eagles as contract players from a club they had been at for a long stint and in preparation got FAT?! If so, hugely poor effort on their part and the eagles should cast them back to mitcham ASAP.

If you're taking this piss but the lads are in poor form its more than liley because the Great Southern is not only a different style but a better standard than div 3,4,5 SAAFL.

Champ, i think you'll find basket weaver is having a bit of fun and taking the piss. Those 2 lads are settled in at Mclaren Vale and won't be leaving to head back to a club that will likely be in division 4 next year. Both have barely missed a session over the whole pre-season and from what i can see are loving their time at a new club!

Two great Lads who are fitting in very well at the Mclaren FC. Dont think the two rounds are much to judge anyones form on, they have definatley held their own and having a good preseason i think we will see a lot of them in the top 5 best players along with BT and Demac over the rest of the season.

Great (rest of the) round of GSFL coming up with 4 seemingly close contests.

Bays win over Creeks should see them as favourites for the local derby on Sat night – Welsh will test the young Victor defence and the coach must be neely ready to make an appearance too. Bays with the head, Victor with the heart.

GPE v McLaren is hard to call with GPE already doubling their win tally from 2011 in the first 2 rounds and McLaren getting over the more fancied Bays then struggling against the Demons. GPE for me but not putting the house on it.

Despite 8 changes from round 1, Pongy battled hard in testing conditions at Victor last week and based on that I think they may get the chocolates over Compass.

(Early) Top of the table clash between Yank and Willunga should be a cracker also – Willunga at home for me.

Must've been close to a record crowd i reckon, 1000 or more.

I'm sure some will defend him cos he's a 'good bloke' but at what point do the myponga committee need to ask if they have the right bloke at the helm? Most of the few he bought with him have left and the next win is nowhere in sight. Just cos he was one of the older players in a crap SANFL side for a few years does not mean he can attract, and develop players as is being shown.

Others will know more about him than me, however I presumed he was from Yorke Peninsula League as I knew of Parsons' playing for CMS, and search confirms this (he's also on clearances list from YP):
