Once again was a priviledge to play in the ANZAC day game while 7 other clubs had the joy of watching us!!

Will Woodville ever get to host a game again. We had Eagles players kicking at goal in their warm up while ANZAC's were parked behind the goals waiting to exit the ground. We had the players run out onto the ground while the ANZAC were doing their lap of honour. A national anthem that wouldn't have had the red button pressed on the voice thanks to the PA, and medal presentation that you couldnt here. Oh and the players running onto the ground while the ANZAC's were doing lap of honour.

Anyway the game was never going to be a blow out great to get the points. Is Collier the best defender in the SANFL now McGuiness is done? Marschall was a monster again Westoff kicked some goals.

Looking good for a top 3 spot at the bye Lairdy would be over the moon.

As for the game, we were pretty average. Probably played 15 minutes of good football in the second quarter. In the second half our entry into the forward line was awful.

Singing out of tune was her fault. I think they did a door prize and the 1000th person to come in did the anthem.

Overall, a good win. Margin got tight at the end but I think the Eagles left it too late. When our delivery into the forward line improved we piled on the goals, but for the first quarter we kept kicking the ball right over the top of our forwards. For the first 3 quarters our midfield won most of the contests, just work rate at times getting back onto players and/or not turning the ball over to reward the opposition blokes who aren't working hard enough. Seems we're building towards a solid spine with Westhoff good today when our mids used him right, Hardy crashing in whenever possible and Collier embarrassing his opponent today.

Was an entertaining enough game, but 2 points was what we wanted and what we got. 3-2 now with a decent break and a bunch of good players looking to slot in somewhere in the next few weeks should build some pressure for spots as we work up the ladder.

Sounds like a typical game, typical result for us at Woodville. Well done, lads.

......congratulations to the army band for continuing to play whilst some idiot decided to play the club songs at volume level 4000 at the same time......surely it couldn't get worse......wrong, rather than a national anthem we were confronted with a national disgrace as PA boy discovered that the volume actually went up to 10,000 if you combined it with the distort button......it was difficult to join in while trying to stem the bleeding from the ears........on the plus side it was the Australian flag flying and it was the right way up......have no idea what happened during the post game presentations as PA boy had clearly decide to engage the law of averages.......

The PA announcer who played Borats version of the Kazakhstan national anthem at a recent event which a Kazaki athlete won was more skilled than the one at Woodville today.

If Norwood and Port play off in the Grand Final, they are then entitled to do so the following year...

From what I was told, there was no singer LIVE there, it was a pre-recorded edition and played back through the audio system. If the PA announcer knew Delta was there, could have got her to do a live version, would have been a tad better :)

Don't agree!

And now that KMac is injured, Alexis is the best defender in the league!

Disgraceful crowd from two successful clubs!

Not good enough!

Why cater for the minority?

Didn't Norwood host Port the season before last in a night ANZAC Day game?

What kind of crowd turned up to that one?

Surely you must earn the right to play on ANZAC Day?

What have Norwood, or Port for that matter, done in recent years to have earned that right Spoin?

Don't feed the trolls. No sane person really thinks it should be Port v Norwood.

You want to reward mediocrity? Some earn things some just expect. How many turned up for Norwood port earlier in the year ( not that, that's what it's about)?

I was expecting something for the kids, given the talking up PhilH gives the Eagles, was disappointed to find nothing.

Just on the kids.

There was free face painting in the family friendly area from 1.30pm to 3/4 time as per every home game.

Location of Family Friendly Area (in front of cricket club) is also on signs at our two gates.

Free Face Painting & Location was advised
- on posters put up by all the gates, canteens
- over the PA system
- in other communications leading up to the game (including I think one posted on this site in the preview thread).

Plus the kick for goal competition at half time that always seems to be won by a kid.

All our junior Eagles members also would collect their free home match giveaway which for this match was our new 2012 Team Poster. (1st game was a lanyard, last one 3 Player Trading Cards, next HM is a wrist band)

All kids welcome to sign up as a free junior member (if 13 or under)

Focus was not really on the kids today, that comes with our AUSKICK Day in June and KIDS Day in August.
