Heard that Birdwood over Maccy by 5 gls in what would appear to be a good result for the Country Div footy. Looking forward to forum posters who were at the game providing a further insight into where Maccy are at (ie can Maccy sustain this performance or did Birdwood have a case of bird flu in the ol hen house ? ).

This looks like a shock result however looking at Maccy's team list they have some handy footballers... For example I think that Micheal Daniele is a former mail medal winner with kangarilla and last may have played in the barossa with angaston?

Jaran Blethyn is a very well credentialled player from the SAAFL won the BOG medal in a DIV 1 GF (albeit in 2000).
For the trivia buffs he is the son of Essendon legend Geoff.

Here is the bespectacled Geoff in action at a Melbourne suburban ground in 1972. He kicked 107 goals that year.

wasn't at the game but from what i hear a pretty hard slog. Maccy a physically bigger side and the weather slowed us down. We also lost 2 players to probably season ending injuries in the first 5 minutes and another down in the 3rd.

What players were injured?

Is the commitee running the Cally FC or is it a handfull of players,of course the players want to stay in country grade,but the commitee should make a decision not the players, only lost by 30 odd goals to Kersbrook yesterday,bet there was a big party at Cally last nite.

I am local and have not bothered to comment about United Eagles for many months. I'm grateful that they removed the word Callington from their name, as they're not a club where I'd want any of my sons to play now, and everything about them embarasses me. Paul Jones broke his ankle/leg and Michael Smart (in his 2nd ever seniors game) tore his medial and lateral ligaments in his knee.
Really devestating for the 2 lads, both ripper fellas and we're all hoping for speedy recoveries.

have heard his been hitting the gym a fair bit lately, on a strict protein diet. i think hes goin to go on the great man made giant bingos

will be an interesting game between kersbrook and gumeracha this week. kersbrook having possibly 2 former captains of gum in michael soden and brett randell. also another 2 former gum players in nathen bonetti and braden hutt. im pretty sure all these guys came through the junoirs at gum. its a bit worrying when you look at the amount of quality juniours gum have had in the last 5 to 10 years. not many of them still around. where are they all? surely most of them still playing footy some where and if so is there a plan in place to maybe recruit these guys back to the club instead of buying in short term "guns" from the saafl. i would think they could put together a pretty good side. i always remember getting flogged by gum back in juniors.

bonetti, soden, hutt, brett randell, mark randell, sean kavanagh, steve kavangh, ben hanna, tom hanna, prowse, pollock, fuller, clarke, liddell. thats just a few names i pulled out of an old budget. add those guys to the locals still at gum and they've got a pretty good team. with a few recruits that could be a grand final side.

i dont mean this to be a negative post. just posing the question. all these guys might not live in the area. i did just want to ask about this weeks game but got a little off track.

Would it really get messy? I mean if they're removed it just gives everyone a bye however the league would have to do one of two things - write off the games they have played a remove wins and % from the sides theyve faced OR keep them in until everyone has played them once then send them packing.

They have no juniors to speak of so there's no disruption there?

If they knew they were getting booted after they completed the first round do you think they will continue to rock up, there would be a stink if the games already played stood and there would be a stink if they didn't count.

No reason their JC's couldn't keep playing in a spot where one of the other clubs don't have JC's.
My opinion is remove them now and take the results from the previous two rounds out of the ladder, goal kickers etc. Just make it a bye when you play them - it is essentially that anyway, just more dangerous.
