Agree with vics01.

Since the SFLs decision to limit junior teams to 2 (on 27 February) BDOS has 'lost' 30 U14 and U16 players either to club football completely or to other clubs. I think the split is about 10 to other clubs and 20 not playing club football at all.

Of these 30, only one player has tranferred to another SFL club meaning the SFL has 'lost' 29 players in one season. About 9 players have tranferred to PHOS, Goodwood etc.

With BDOS having 3 U12 sides this year the simple maths will say the SFL will lose another 15 or so U14s next year. For your information vics01, the initial decision to limit the number of teams on 27 Feb included the minis.

It has been really disappointing losing 15 year olds who along with their families, have been with the club since their sons were 7 or 8.

What is with the Christies Beach Tigers?

Christies Tigers is the traditional name for Christies 2nd teams, it is a reference to the town colours of Christies Beach (Black and Gold).

Unfortunately it looks like the Tigers name won't be relaunched this year as we are not quite getting the second U/8 team together. It would have been great to see it used again for the first time since 1992.

Good to see Port Noarlunga using the "Divers" name, shame to see that Morphett Vale have discarded the "Demons" name (Or prior to Marion joining the "Rams" name) for their duplicate sides.

Combined Aldinga and Christies side? Seems to be a few like MV Cove, must be those that couldn't field two full teams.

Ignore my post above, misread the team names. Still seems it may be a combined Aldinga/CB side??

I know our mini league co-ordinators have been doing a great job, we have Sunday U8,U10,U12 before our C grade but no combined teams I know of. Not sure how Brighton could manage their numbers but we have used a rotation system fitting 90 players into 3 teams last few years, half a game etc, still have a long way to go but starting to see those kids in our U14 and U16's this year, also great to have U18's again too. Very fortunate to have some good co-ordinators and coaches at the junior level at the Sharks.

I am am continually amazed by the decisions the SFL make. I have no objection to BDOS or any other club entering 3 mini teams it is a great reflection on the club and the people involved to have so many kids. What happens when they get to 14/16 level and the SFL put hurdles in the way of clubs fielding 3 teams. After allowing them to do so for the previous years.

If you cant do it at that level what is the point of allowing it at mini level. Where are the kids expected to go after playing at a club for upto 6 years? SFL are at present a disaster zone with regard to junior footy.

Where are Edwardstowns mini's.
My belief is a weak president is being dominated by the junior co-ordinator who wants to keep the Edwardstown juniors in the MSJFL

SFL are at present a disaster zone with regard to junior footy.

Great to see those old names coming back (Christies Tigers etc). Morphett Vale Demons have been around for many years. Also love Cove "Venom" --- brilliant !!!
One thing I have never liked with these colts names though is the use of the club "emblem name" to distinguish from another side from the same club, like the Happy Valley "Vikings" and Port "Divers" where there is another of the club's sides in the same comp ---- my reason ? --- to me it is saying that the other side are not "Vikings" or "Divers". But of course they are !!
Pick a name that does not do this --- "venom" does the job brilliantly.
Suggestion --- "Raiders" or "Sharkhunters"

Neither Brighton or Happy Valley do this, they simply have Black and Gold sides. Flagstaff have red and blue and Reynella have black and white. Seems better than nicknames as that way both teams are even (or 3 teams in BDOS case). There should be no A or B sides, so they should be named as neutrally as possible.

Even with the Black and Gold names for the sides in mini's there are always those in the gold that think they are the second team because the A grade wear black

Probably shouldn't be surprised these days but it is getting pretty sad when you get questioned for taking pictures of your own kids playing footy.

Never had an issue until today and the Shoes complained, not just once but multiple times during all 3 subbie games today.

Pathetic.

And for the record there is no SFL rule against it.

These days there are child protection policies which say you do need permission to share kids photos in the public form though.
When our registration forms are filled out each year FHFC asks whether we have permission to use kids photos for club use in newsletters, our website and the clubrooms, and our club photographer can't "tag" photos on the facebook page

Unfortunaltey when you post somthing on facebook it no longer belongs to you. In 20 years time the photo of your boy/girl could show up anywhere.
So its fair if you happen to post a picture and someone who does not want to be in it gets posted.

So I see Brightons Sunday under 14s are straight through to a GF after beating wineflies by 147 to nothing
Here comes another hollow premiership for the junior bombers
Maybe the SFL can fix this whilst they are fixing everything else in the off season

I don't think the boys who play in that team will think it's a hollow premiership. Good on the SFL for giving kids who can't play Saturday somewhere to play. These kids would end up only playing school footy or playing in the Metro South league. Just because you play in a Sunday team doesn't mean your not any good. I think more clubs should get behind it rather than treating it like a second grade comp.

Wheels and Deals I notice you are from MVP and I reckon you guys played your only 14s team in the Sundays so I can see why you would want it to stay the same. Every other club plays its best junior team on a Saturday which is where the real competition is and what we encourage the kids to aim for but for those that don't make the Saturday team they get the chance to play against other clubs second teams .... and a couple of other clubs that play it differently

Kids are not treated like they aren't any good if they play Sundays but how would those wineflies kids be feeling tonight?

Don't want to keep it the same, and I'm sorry that we are unable to play in the Saturday comp as I'm sure we would have done well with both 14's and 16's. At least those kids from Reynella made the finals.
