Maybe not with the evenness of the comp, but it won't matter if they can't find their form

2 games plus massive percentage = 3 games out of the 5.

You saw some of the match today, they are are dispirited rabble at the moment.

Bugger me how they are going to find a way to turn this all around ... and they need to do it pronto.

Courtesy of scott, the Eagles have only won 3 out of 12 quarters and have only been in front for 7% of their matches so far. Average position is 9th.

Now how many of us predicted them to miss the finals this season? I can remember being laughed at when I made the prediction. Looks okay now. ;)

YEah definitely on current form they are shot .. Just saying that with the evenness of the comp this year, there's still time for them to get their act together and they have the pedigree to go on a run

Agreed, plenty of time. The dogs have only won two more games than them and are fourth.

Lose on Anzac day and it's season over. Could still make the finals but can't make top 3 and you don't win the flag from 4th or 5th

Is it too early to raise the coaching question? They were not the best team last year and lost a few games including a flogging by bottom placed Sturt and a very lucky 6 point win against Sturt at Unley . Never have been one to carry on about how good Godden is but maybe he is not as good as some think ?

The league is 0-4 with a percentage of 30. The reserves have won one game and have a percentage of 28. Between the two they have won 7/32 quarters this year.
The league team's average loss is 11 goals; the reserves is 17 goals.
Is the problem, (whatever it is?) bigger than just the league team? (ie A senior players issue? A club issue? A coaching issue?).
The Eagles u/18s have won 2 games with a percentage of 50, and sit 5th.

Whatever it is, the Eagles top 3 grades sit at 9th, 9th and 5th. (South's top 3 grades sit 7th, 7th and 9th, while Central's are 4th, 8th and 8th).

There clearly is something not right. The initial losses were Treeby and Rimington and the draft was kind to us. Add a few early recruits in Eddy and Shirley and there was reason to be optimistic.

Then came the news that McKenzie was to live in Victoria and travel over on weekends. Not ideal but not really a concern.

Losing Allmond, Tiller and Hoban and assistant coach McCarthy towards the end of pre-season wasn't ideal but didn't seem to be a problem with the club, just individual circumstance.

It just seems a lack of effort and possibly fitness by the playing group. I guess if the players put in the same way over pre-season as they have over the first 4 games then it is understandable they aren't winning games. It's a very competitive competition and just because you have a premiership medal around your neck doesn't mean you become a better player than what you were when you were striving to get there.

Fitness, Aerie?
Out of interest, where did the Eagles finish in the reserves comp last year? ie, did the full squad all start training (2 weeks) later than the previous year?
Only 4 days off for Central and the Eagles after playing in the wet today. I heard Chris Kendall on ABC say that Godden was throwing his team around everywhere, all over the park, for the last quarter. With the game done and dusted and only a 4 day interlude until facing the Dogs, I was surprised Godden didn't just bring Grocke, Greiger, McKenzie, Lewis and Cicca off the ground for the last quarter and wrap them in electric blankets ready for next Wednesday!
I'm certainly astonished by your team's start to the year. It isn't over yet, but there's some hard work ahead. The draw may not be helpful either as IIRC you have two times this year where you miss 2 weekends of footy in a row? If you can get some momentum going, those breaks may be untimely now.

Surely Goddens appointment as State Coach needs to be looked at? To go 0-5 (assuming they lose Wednesday) isn't a great record for the man with the State job.

The problem might not be with the coach, Damian.
I think Godden has earned it and should still keep it.
