Deserve to lose kicking 11.16.
Now if only South could win at home

we were very average and south were very good... especially after half time...

Listening on radio it sounded as if nearly everyone for South chipped in where as Glenelg left it to too few.
Sounded like a couple of the AFL boys really struggled

My mate who was at the game phoned me at half time and said we were home, we were playing much better footy and should win. As the normal nervous negative Panther supporter I told him to STFU and not jinx us, but he was right in the end.

Desperately needed the win and it was all the more sweeter to win again, against the Bays.
Glenelg had their chances early in the game but their bad kicking kept us in it.Ten minutes before halftime I thought we got on top in the middle where Bass began to get his hand to the ball and bring Liddle and Cross into the game. This continued after halftime and Souths pressure on the opposition also lifted a notch too. Souths forwards Ainger and Wundke were a real handfull for their opponents and finishing 4 goals each.
A great win.

As a neutral there tonight, I thought it interesting glenelg changing tactics in the second half and kicking along the boundary.
I liked Souths guernsey.
A crowd of 4900 is pretty good (same as Norwood v port?).
Souths defence was pretty good, and they seemed to score whenever they went inside fifty.
Also helped by two shocking kicks across goal by the bays.
Need to light up the scoreboard.

Only saw the second half and it was all South, wanted it more and pushed the bays wide out of the corridor, reality check the Bays needed. South did kick accurately but thats good footy and put scoreboard pressure on us.

Huge game next week for the Bays, at a guess there was 4000 there tonight with 3500 Bays fans, expect 6000+ next week given good weather.

Massie seemed to struggle tonight against Fullers coaching and the zone that South ran across half back. South had a number of players lift tonight and did well against an opposition that most tipped to win this week.

Nick Liddle played an awesome game tonight and is just an amazing player to watch play SANFL. Tom McNamara took the step up tonight which was encouraging. Several more that I could easilly name, yet to say that it was very much a team effort tonight.

Go you Panthers! 8)

bad kicking is bad footy, south came out and kicked 3 goals before we looked like getting one, then we completely dominated for about the next 30 minutes but couldnt kick straight and wasted numerous opportunities to kick away, south tightened up in the 2nd half of the 2nd qtr to level up at half time. absolutely smashed us in the first 10 minutes of the third we tried to return fire but the panthers helfd firm and we never seriously challenged for the remainder of the contest they being more efficient in attack and some bad defensive errors on our part was the difference, plenty to work with from massies point of view

Just got in and still smiling!! :D

A wonderful win against a side that was full of confidence.

Nothing beats the feeling of beating the Bays on their home soil.

Wundke. Ainger looked dangerous and beat their Bay opponent.

Our engine room battled all night and beat the Bays in the centre. Liddle is a complete superstar!!! BOG for me ...the man just does not stop running all night. Cross, Stribling, Daniel great support. Bass is in fine form and has improved so much since last year. He had a great game and had beat a Bay AFL listed player!!!
McNamara had his best game since joining the club down in defense. He must of got the message from Ronnie to lift his game as he sure took a step up tonight.
Rarely did we have a passager tonight - total team effort.

As for the Bays, I think you are better off without your AFL listed players as some of them tonight let you down and were probably thinking more about going over to the Holdy for a drink after the game!!

Small South crowd there tonight ( hey?? nothing unusual) but some wonderful passionate and proud people tonight left the ground with a smile on there faces. I especially enjoyed waiting to cross the pedestrian lights at Brighton Road to have a car pull up near with a Glenelg supporter poke his head out the window and scream to me " F*** SOUTH!!....!!"

.....Thanking You Kind Sir.

I still had that smile on my face :)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Sod the AFL players - by 3/4 time I was starting to fantasize about the post-match bevvy...

WCP's mate was wrong, South was nowhere near home at half time. South however outplayed Glenelg perfectly in the second half. Harder at the ball and much more direct with it. On top in the ruck for much of the game too. The final margin was a fair indicator of the difference between the teams tonight.

Hope this gives the Bays a good kick up the jacksy. Turn around and look at what you've done: beaten three teams which underperformed on the day, and lost to a team which wanted to play football. Need to buckle down and play footy against the next 4 opponents, who will be a class above those who have thus far been vanquished.

You beauty  :D

Great night. Very entertaining from a South point of view. Not many passengers and looked very dangerous with Wundke back and Ainger again firing. Liddle again magnificent. Inside 50 stat was interesting as it went the Bays way 57-42 but South generally looked the more threatening going forward.

Although South came out on the wrong end of an 11-19 free kick count, I thought they were pretty good for a change. Much prefer seeing 30 paid in a game than 50+ as we so often see now.

Terrific crowd with a reasonable South contingent on the outer side. Lyons looks like he'll be a player at the next level.

Now to throw the vcr on and watch the St K game. Hopefully a rare South/Saints double 8)
