What happened in the Mt Barker TV B Grade game??

Have TV improved by 20 goals, Mt Barker slipped or other factors at play?

Interesting to see Lobethal so close to the much hyped Onkas too

Terrible game of footy too watch, so many skill errors by Onkas who had so much of the ball. Loby also had many chances to snatch this one but just couldnt take the most of there opportunuties when they were peppering the goals in the last quarter.
I did notice that Onkas had a few key players out (Smart, Smith, Contin x2 and Heiser, with Kerber playing in the 2's)

Having played against Ironbank in the past years (only one of which they made the gf) they have relied on bigger, older blokes most of which would not be suitable in a-grade..... In fact I can think of a lot of players (competition wide) who excell in b-grade that probably couldn't / don't make the leap.

I agree with the principle of your opinion in general but not in Ironbank's case.

Yep, fair enough.

I noticed they only had 14 in the U15s. Are they in danger of any forfeits this year or was that just a one off?

Yes, interesting to see Mt Barker vs Torrens Valley & Lobethal vs Onkas were both close matches in the B Grade when it was thought Mt Barker and Onkas would each get up easily..... what happened?

I didn't see the A grade game but heard loby even finished the game with 17 on the field, the entire bench was gone before 1/4 time and lost another near the end of the last quarter. Loby's depth will be tested very early in the season depending on how bad those injuries are.

Considering the hype around Onkas you'd hope that the out's were the issue for them. Yet the guys that played 2's shouldn't be a factor. Kerber hasn't played A's for a few years and didn't dominate in the 2's. Probably a few players ahead of him in the pecking order unless all their big men go down.

caught the last 3 quarters of this game.

was a strange game to watch as for most of it blackwood looked in complete control. troy edwards was unstoppable and was given way too much freedom. dundovic threatened to kick 10, and magarey was strong.

then, out of nowhere in the final qtr, the young devils team suddenly started to run. they had one of those nights where they could'nt miss (16.1 if you dont mind). lots of promising signs and they will definitely win games in 2012. probably still better than bridgewater and tv.

cant believe nielsen cant get a game at sturt. he played a blinder.

Word from the Cabbage cutters is that Bridgy have certainly improved and Mt Barker had a very competetive hitout with TV. All augers well for a competetive season with no teams to be taken lightly. Good stuff !

Geez supercoach, one round in and the rifle is already cocked! As a sponsor you have every right to question what your sponsorship dollars are funding. Are they helping create a vibrant, sustainable sporting club with fantastic facilities for the local youth? Or is it lining some overpaid SANFL rejects pockets? In the past Mt lofty have been party to the latter, and whilst it did help us achieve three premierships (which don't get me wrong, were great!!) what residual effect to that have in the years that have followed? I've said it before, this is not AFL- premierships do not result in massive $$ injections from memberships and murch- they simply result in bragging rights, a photo and cup in your trophy cabinet, an awesome party at the footy club, and fantastic memories. Great for those who are lucky to play in 'em! Premierhsips should be chased, HARD! But if it is ever at the expense of the club itself then priorites should be re-evaluated.
This season hasnt started as we would have hoped, missing out narrowly on the weekend- but I can tell you that the upaid (read all) players at Mt Lofty are enjoying the heck out of their footy at the moment, and isn't that the primary reason we play this game?

Was at the blackwood lofty game on the weekend, think the young devs after being stunned in the first qtr settled and showed that they won't be as bad as first thought. The new coach Appeared to keep his cool after looking down a 8 goal deficit, not sure where the woods willbe at this season ?

With Hahndorf playing Mt Barker this Wednesday for the ANZAC day clash, It will be interesting to see if there are a few names that are missing from this saturday's lineups from both teams.
Especially the older players who will surely struggle to get up after only a 4 day break.
With Hahndorf playing Bridgewater tomorrow, will guys like Nicholas, Bartemucci, Stansborough and Gallagher be rested so they can have a red hot crack at Barker on Wednesday?

yes it would be tempting to rest a couple, although im hearing that bridgy are better this year, so less likely to happen.

if they do play and the pies have a good lead by half-time, dont expect to see them on the field much in the second half.

Not sure what you consider old. Gags just turned 26. I think a lot of people think some of Hahndorfs players are older than they actually are

Nicholas, Bartemucci, Stansborough and Stephens (If he is still even playing) are all over 30 aren't they?

Both have just turned 30 I think, Buzz might still be 29. Barta around 32, not sure about Alf but I would say 32 as well. Think he was 21 when he first came to Hahndorf. So hardly spring chickens but hardly ready to go out to pasture either.
