River Murray Football League talk

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

This is a terrible mishap because looking at name sakes and talking to some fellow RMFL people then Tailem risk losing O. Love, R. Love, Hayes, Rigney, Wilson and maybe a few more.... Clearing any of these players to a local crowd would be a special move by the league....

At any rate like someone said on here before lets wait for Thursday night selections... Im sure these blokes are counting on match fees from somewhere...

Given the way Tailem has retained some competitiveness in the last 12-18 months, Clyde has done some very good work for the TBFC, hopefully both parties can reconcile their differences.

I'd wait to see who shows up thursday before panicing, although i just heard Owen Love trained and sighned with jervios last night!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolute rubbish slug, dont post about things that you know very little about. As for Owen being at Jervois, his grandfather is a life member there, so if he was going to leave Tailem Bend I know its been a goal of his to play for Jervois out of respect for his grandfather.

Dont sling mud at peoples character to pump up your own tyres, and if anyone has a problem with this they can PM me

If he's a contracted player the dream should have to wait for 2013 otherwise mid-season dreaming could become a loop hole for all contracted footballers.

You change your tune quickly Champ. I read on another forum you called a club a bunch of pricks for asking a player to honour a contract.

That might be why you're on the outer...

Haven't changed my 'tune' in the slightest as this is a completely different context.

The post you're talking about actually said, 'IF THE PLAYER HAS NOT TAKEN SIGN ON, HAS NOT PLAYED A GAME, IS NOT SEEKING A CLEARANCE TO ANOTHER CLUB IN THE SAME LEAGUE THEN HE SHOULD BE LET GO' The player I was referring to had trained with a club for one month and then decided (for whatever reason) that he wanted to return to his home club which was the club he had come from.

Big difference but that's ok, you stand corrected - no sweat ;)

Champ - we can all read and your intial post did not say half of this. The point I was trying to make that players who sign a Community Football Board contract should feel obliged to honour it, no matter what the situation. In many cases they have asked for big $$ and this time of the year clubs have little opportunity to replace them if they suddenly have a change of heart.

Noticed the RMFL Sporting Pulse "News" is severely outdated. I've moved into town (the big one) and the Standard is hard to come by, so I would love to see the "Boots n all" and "Postscripts" put onto the Sporting Pulse page once again. If the great man Dalwood is able to take up the task again, this reader would be very happy!

I have wondered whether the reason they stopped updating Sporting Pulse with reviews and write ups, was because of the fact that they were Dalwood's Standard write up, therefore meaning they were losing sales of the paper, so didn't want the info on the internet any more. Just a theory i had.

Logical response. However, how many of Tuesday's papers would they sell on Wednesday (Thursday's on Friday)? There is a fair portion of the RMFL community not within reach of the Standard's distribution chain and essentially miss out all together. It was a good read and its a shame I've had to resort to these forums to get my info 8)

I think the standard website usually has some of the articles, but they never seem to have everything so I'm not sure what the go is there, I'm sure someone that works for the standard is on this forum a bit and can hopefully inform us why this is,

I don't have ready access to the Standard either but do enjoy reading it. Yes there are articles on the internet, but they are not there every week, perhaps every second or so week. Some weeks they provide previews, sometimes reviews, sometimes both, sometimes neither.

The reason is presumably that if they put all the articles up on line, people will just save themself $1 or whatever it is, and read it on line. By not being able to rely on it being there each week, people will have to still get into the habit of buying it, if they want to read it each week.

From time to time I have gone to the State Library where I have been able to access and read current versions of the Standard and other country newspapers.

If a player accepts cash then it should be up to the clubs digression however it's a big call to clear players to rival clubs, end of story.

AGAIN very very different to the scenario I posted previously about a player NOT having played s game, potentially NOT having received a sign on and wanting to RETURN TO HIS LAST CLUB.

From memory, the LOVES were talked about throughout the off season as going to Echunga and I think one or two other clubs. Does anyone know if Jervois approached them to play there this season. If so, why didn't they go there with the family history. If Jervois didn't approach them, why not? I don't know the players at all.

It has been organised that Peter Dalwood's Boots 'n' All column - his tips and game previews – will now be on the website every Thursday, while his Postscripts column will be on The Murray Valley Standard's website on a Tuesday.

What remains alone in the printed version is the match write-ups.

The Standard's website is found at www.murrayvalleystandard.com.au and is optimised for mobile devices.

Ramblers to def Jervois - Ramblers to back up their season opener and account for a slow and unfit Jervois. Jervois midfied will miss fire without Coulter, while the forward 50 is a one trick pony and reliant on C.Ladhams.
Mannum to def Taliem Bend - No Chief, no Quinn, No Girardis, no problems. Tailem won’t have enough ammunition to stop man mountain Jim Hales at CHB. While there is no Love left at the Bend!!! Hope Hazel can save his pennies to get into the gate.
Mypolonga to def Meningie - Only records set will be at the gate, Motlop and McLeod to get an induction to country footy and sent back up The Dukes Highway with no cigar.
Are you prepared to pay the price? WILL YOU PAY THE PRICE?
