I'll say I'd be helping with the oysters Sunday, monday and tuesday since its the busiest time of year then wed-mon fishing.
I know Swamp Donkey is heading to streaky for a wedding on the Easter weekend, just gotta convince him to come have a fish at Smoky which shouldn't be too hard! 8)

I've just noticed how intelligent you actually are MC.
A fellow Roo supporter :D
Even more luck to ya.
Hope the fish and oysters jump in your boat.
Leave for Ceduna at 4am for work tmrw and plan on an early Locks sess on Wednesday although it will be an out going tide it will be good to have the sand in between the toes for a couple of hours.
Maybe land a Sambo.

Cheers mate ;)
Like Squidsy says. Hope ya fit!

I chickened out.
Tide was low and no real really good gutters to intise my to do the walk.
I stood from above a watched for about half an hour and saw a few mullet or tommies get pulled in.
Wind was blowing off land and the joint looked magnificent.
Went to Loath Bay just passed Lincoln and fished from the jetty for a few squid and gar instead, not as far to carry the beers and less effort ;)
Next week its game on though.

hahahaha  - I don't blame you. I was hesitant when I first went there....

Louth Bay is a gun little jetty, the jetty is black for a reason, have got plenty of squid from there. If you drive a little further along Tumby Bay jetty is thick with big Tommies at night and some big squid.

Well lets be honest, you can get fish anywhere in that part of the world.

Good luck Gents

On the cooking side I defrosted some snapper I had sitting in the freezer for 2 months, thinking it wouldnt be too good after that time so no expectations, tried something new and cut it into cubes and cooked it in the wok with a bit of salt, oil and some home grown basil. Sensational!

As Ive said before if anyone wants to offload a snapper or two let me know, Im happy to pay some $.

Fish can be okay for up to 3 months in the freezer.

Anyway, struggling on the fish front, wind has been terrible so cant get the boat out :(

4am wake up tomorrow to see if we can get out and catch some fish :D

Good luck Squidsy, should be nice & fresh at the ramp at 4am. ;) No pain no gain they reckon. 8)

I was gonna head out after midday, but can't be stuffed getting battered about in the tinny for 7hrs or so. Smash the KG's & diddlies for 3 days last weekend, so the freezer stocks have been adequately replenished. ;)

Best Xmas present I ever received was my vac-seal unit. Bags cost a little bit more than snap lock bags, but no freezer burn on the fish/squid and get at least 12mths freezer life, no problems. 8) Well worth the $$'s and effort if your fillets are gonna side idle for a while. PS; Best price I've found on the bags so far have been at The Good Guys, believe it or not.

Howdy boys, back from Coffins yesterday and had cracking weather for the whole 9 days apart from the drive over on Easter Friday which took up 2 full tanks to get to Lincoln with a massive blow happening and the boat and car loaded with luggage.
For some reason we potted around in the Coffin Bay channels for the first three days catching a couple a duz legal whiting and a few flatties. Thankfully we drove to Farm Beach and saw that we could launch the mighty tinnie with a conventional car from the beach.
Well 9 kg of lovely KG fillets later and some stomper flatties over the next three days certainly made up for the first three days.
I recommend Farm Beach to anyone willing to make the hike.
If you know the area one of our other tinnies hooked into a metre long snapper just in front of the cliffs near the boat ramp but couldnt get it into the boat and it spat the hooks while he was trying to stick his hands up its gills for the third time, amazing stuff :( :( :(
Left his net at home but it wouldn't have fitted in any way

9 kgs of KGW fillets = ~$450 worth and the central market these days. Great effort.
Loosing a 1m long snapper would near on spoil my trip, grab its tail next time, quick and easy way to immobilise them.

I agree grab its tail, wasnt my boat that had the bloody thing hooked.
Had to pay $20 a kilo for cockles on our last venture to Farms which we bought 2kg worth.
Bloody expensive but sort of worth it.

Went to a little place called Tapa bay about an hours steam from Darwin harbour last Friday. Reef everywhere. Beautiful spot. So tempting to go for a swim. Got a few reef species and some muddies. Will be starting to explore the Shoal Bay / Lee point region soon. Tuna time.

Lovely day mate! I found myself 1 bottle of bundy red richer at the end of the day! 8)

Went to Smoky Bay for a week leading up to and over Easter. Went out 4 times I think, but struggled to get Whiting. Caught 24 on one day in one patch but couldn't find them anywhere in the bay yet, will have to wait for 3 weeks time when I go back, as hopefully the winter whiting have moved in. Consolation prize was managing to bag out on squid each time we went out, so even though we didn't get much whiting we still come home with 45 squid each time. 8)
