Amazing the difference a year makes.

Have The Flexers moved up from sandbagging and playing Div7 now?

Reckon Shoc had an inkling late last year about their player movements. Interestingly, no one from their Div 7 premiership team played C's yesterday. It was a complete new 21. Some played A's and a lot played B's. Did I also see they don't have an E grade now?
Think you'll find The Flexers have moved on and Modbury have gone back to their traditional A B C D systems. Good luck to the Hawks, a nice way to start 2012.

Good to hear from Modburys point of view.
Good to see they are now picking teams the way they should be picked.

Special mention to the B grade lads, as their very good coach said, they have been on the end of many a flogging so to be in such a strong position is really great to see.

Smithfield lads need some training and fitness, but I dont think the score reflected the effort. They put in all day, especially their backs.

I know that they had 8 first choice players unavailable which included two ruckmen, obviously 30 goals is a fair schlacking but I don't think it's all doom and gloom out there, I did hear that Mitchell Park were a very well drilled outfit.

Yes Good win from some teams but lets not get on the Mitchell Park bandwagon just yet. Two guys Kick 11 and 12 goals that shows and tells like last year stop them and you will beat them. Big game this week would have to be Mitchell Park V Angle Vale.
What are some peoples thoughts on this blockbuster so early in the season.

Good luck with trying to stop them both, especially when one of them is now 100% fit unlike last year!
Mitchell Park by 6 goals....to big and physical for AV and AV don't have 2 defenders to stop The McDonnells.

Knowing how to beat a team or knowing who to stop is different from doing it on gameday. Still, stop the McDonells and you will go a long way to stopping Mitchell Park.

I think the best thing about yesterday for Parkies was the midfield depth. Have added 2 or 3 really solid A Grade players who whilst not at the same standard as May will provide that depth of quality we have needed for a long time.

Long way to go, I did hear that the TTG Henley game was played at an exceptional standard with the umpire commenting it was more like a div 5 or 6 game.

Yes it is a blockbuster. Angle vale are also well drilled and a very good team. The 2 guys just happen to finish on the end of a lot of hard work. We call them the twin towers but they are not the b all and end all.

Was that Ben Noske in the best players for TTG? Good luck stopping him.

Throw in Clint Dow who would easily be the best ruckman in D7.

Lethal Leigh Matthews in his now media role says, give me 2 quality tall forwards and I can build a team around that. Buddy and now Hale, Hawkins and Pod, Cloke and Dawes, Riewoldt and Koschitzke, etc, etc, they have bad days all of them, but their best is amazing and when they both click, look out. We ain't no AFL club but good tall forwards are a rarity at this level, especially when they know where the goals are.

Good point Morell, but at least the mids are now working for each other and not chasing a medal, like May had a tendancy to do.

Excellent Points from all.
I think both teams have goal scoring power and i think the game will be won in defense and in the midfield where i know Vale has alot of depth with the new players to the club. Defense is vital to this blockbuster.

Yes it was. And i believe Dan is playing too and maybe Steve Danials, along with Mount, Uncle etc. Should do alright this year.

Didn't see the game on the weekend but i did hear both teams were very good. Not sure if Dan Noske will be playing i thought he was having a year off but surely Ben would tear div 7 apart. Have also heard a few ex A graders are still to come back into that team.

Not sure if true but i also heard in the Div7R game between Henley and TTG that Henley played an unregistered player. If true will TTG end up getting the points?
