houghton definately a much better side this season, deserved the win, everytime we hit back they kicked another goal, umpiring was horrible but you have to expect that at div 6 level, we were hurt with no mcgowan, wood, hirst and cumming

agreed houghton were a better side from last year. starry had a great game and Q mopped up everything across half back very very well. they didnt seem to rely on liam davis AS much as they have in previous seasons. even though i think he may have played every position on the ground at some stage yesterday haha.

some very good sides have been beaten by houghton at houghton in previous years. its arguably the toughest trip in div 6 so dont write us off yet. fingers crossed for a good win against the farmers this week for supporters day at mortlock park.

Yes he has got quite the imagination, I've been told he's back in mid May but I also believe he's been in a very good paddock in the off season

Well done to BOS yesterday. Out ran us in the last quarter and some inaccurate kicking by them flattered the end result a bit. Having said that we did continually push them wide for their set shots and made them kick from a long way out. They ran well from half back and continually seemed to have extra numbers out the back of the contest to feed the ball to and get some extra time to use it better. Was a very even contest for the first three quarters with us up by a goal at half time and down by a point at 3/4 time. Unfortunately we lost our Captain Ben Rogers in the first 5mins of the game with a double break just above the ankle. Will be a huge loss as he is one of the most courageous and positive people I know. We will all have to lift a little now to cover his loss as a player and a leader.

It's easy to read too much into one round of games.

You get Wood and the others back into the team and CLG have a pretty formidable side. I'm glad we got to play you without them, sucks for everyone else who doesn't. Thems the breaks.

Not to mention the 30 odd touches O'Gorman gets on a regular basis. Plus the umps are all family.

Not to mention either how many touches O'Gormans direct opponent gets whilst O'Gorman roams across half back. How long till teams work this out????

Not sure who was on O'Gormon, especially in the middle, got a number of clearances from the centre, think he was standing the coach! probably should of manned up on him

so is it that lockleys will be much better than everyone thought or woody sth arent as good?

also i know there was a bit of talk about uni playing their B grade side in div 6 cos of the time on. anyone know if this was the case yesterday? i expected the result to be a lot closer tbh and just wondered if this was the reason why.

Looking at Lockleys side they will be pushing for that 5th spot and Woody south still not at full strength, Clifford is worth a few goals..

Lockleys should finish top 3. Out of the fiasco from last year they didn't lose much personal and having the Braham boys from the APFL is a massive pick up. I reckon underestimate them at your own peril. Braham will go close to the medal if he stays fit imo.

Yep. BOS had to get the guys who normally do the BBQ to pull on the boots to fill a team. Was very surprised with the final result since we also had about 10 A/B grade players unavailable and a few guys in our team that were playing their first ever game of footy. Just need some of these B grade players to go to the next level now and become good A grade players.

Was talking to Tom Zed (president I think?) prior to the game and he said that this would probably be the weakest they'll be all year. A large number away on holiday and a few working but should get quite a few more back in the coming weeks. We had the same problem. Can't believe the number of blokes that book holidays in Round 1 after doing the hard yards during pre-season. I guess the priority of footy can vary a fair bit between individuals.

Two games stand out to me:

CU vs TOS - Important game, both without a win from the first round. Public expectation for both teams to be in the top five and one will still be without a win come dusk on Saturday. Despite getting convincingly beaten in Round 1, I'd expect CU to bounce back strongly on their home deck.

CLG vs IF - Again, two teams that lost in Round 1 and the hunger to get some points on the board is what makes this a good prospect. I think I'll lean to the home team again. I think CLG came away from R1 injury free and will have some big inclusions that should make them too strong here.

he was an A grade skipper at some stage i am fairly sure..so yeah..straight back in you would think
