Theoretically Uraidla B grade should be amazing considering its their "local A Grade"

If your from Torrens Valley saying that, its a bit rich. They 13 locals play in the gf including an under 17. So id check the facts. Cause checking most a grade sides you wouldnt find much better then that. The players are, Tudor, Haliday, Kluvanek and kepa with both Brown and leibelt back from injury should increase the local talent in the side.

I thought Brown, Kluvanek & Tudor were not locals; I know the latter 2 at least played footy down town and only came to the club once done there? I could be wrong but I suppose this opens the debate as to when some qualifies to be "a local".

But I do agree that Uraidla do have their fair share of locals playing in the A's!

Kluvanek (lives 100m from the oval) played all the way through uraidla juniors and tudor came through the under 17's at uraidla whilst playing at pembroke. Both played in losing under 17 grand finals for the club in 07 and 08. couldn't get much more local.

I suppose my use of a "?" is vindicated then! Thanks for your reply, I particularly enjoyed the defensive tone.

I will remember to bold and underline throughout longer posts in future, in fact let me start now:

"I thought Brown, Kluvanek & Tudor were not locals; I know the latter 2 at least played footy down town and only came to the club once done there?" :D

Alright here we go, Round 1:
Hahndorf v Ironbank – Match of the Round – Ironbank have recruited well will the likes of Sugg and co and Hahndorf are usually under prepared for round 1 so ill say Ironbank by 3-4 Goals
Lobethal v Onka Valley – The challenge here will be to see if Loby can find 42 blokes to put on the park over 2 matches – Onkas by 10+
Mt Barker v Torrens Valley – be ready for a great year from Roos and I don’t think you’ll see too many game let slip – Mt Barker by 10+
Uraidla v Bridgewater – Enough said, Uraidla by 10+
Blackwood v Mt lofty – Much like above, Although Both sides have lost the best part of their top 10 players so might be closer then I think – Blackwood by 8 Goals

My tips for Round 1:
Ironbank by 5+ goals. I think Hahndorf are over-rated and will not make the 5.
Onkas by 5+ goals. Lobey getting better but don't have the depth. Be interesting to see if Onkas midfield can cover Kirwan leaving.
The Roos by 5+ goals. A few youngsters to debut alongside a couple of recruits, i'm expecting big things from this squad.
Uraidla by plenty. Hopefully Bridgey start winning quarters. Interesting to see how well/often Bown plays.
Blackwood by 5+ goals. If Lofty had last year's squad I'd tip them. I think the Woods will be in the mix for possies 4-7 by the year's end. I expect a big drop off and could even see them missing finals too!

Also, did anyone read the courier lift out on the clubs this year. I thought it was pretty generic and not informative at all. Not even worth the read. Oh well!

Craig Jamar a late but very handy in for Torrens Valley.
Jacques and Jamar give the Lions a very strong Ruck combination.

Onkas over Tigers by 4 points, LObethal down to 18 players 15 minutes into match with 2 leg injuries and a hip, Onkas win twos by a few goals, maybe 5 or less?
U17 belted Tigers, U15 Lobethal belted Onkas, U 13, Onkas flOg Tigers, that's about it . Libethal could have won in the last couple of kicks but missed.

I see Blackwood only defeated Mt Lofty by 2 points, are Lofty better than expected, or has Blackwood slipped?

Went to the lofty vs blackwood game after watching a lack lustre game between onkas and lobey and was treated to a great game of footy. Got there just before the end of the B grade and can tell you mt loftys B grade are not to flash.. didnt really have me in high hopes for a close game in the A's.
Blackwood came out strong and got out to a handy lead over the star struck devils and got out to an 8 or 9 goal lead by half time. The devils started to get back in it in the 3rd before blackwood kicked the last couple of the 3rd to have a 40 point lead. Then in the last quarter mt lofty came out firing with a pure thrist for the contest and grit to level the game with about 3 minutes remaining before blackwood kicked a couple of points before the siren went. The feeling around the ground was almost as if blackwood had lost, as they had been outplayed in the second half by a team that if you looked at it on paper, would be bottom 2.
Blackwood still for me top 4 but forward line is a bit of a worry, dundas the only real danger down there. Midfield still pretty handy, edwards is a class act and miss a bit of rebound through cobb and sidebotuom
mt lofty... not sure if they can keep that kind of intensity up all year.. they kicked an amazing score of 16.1 and they benefitted from Nielsen not playing at sturt, and after seeing his game he would have to be getting a game down there shortly. But a good effort from the young devils who may surprise a few this year.

Hahndorf started like they were expecting a contest but found that the opposition played like pretty boys all expecting someone else to do the work. Hahndorf fed off the lack of effort/energy/tackling and were able to dominate. They should have won by more, the Male boys played well and it was the first game I have seen for a very long while against Hahndorf without Alf where they have won which is good for them. This should give them good confidence to tackle the teams coming up.
At half time I was wishing for Manou WTF.
Ironbank need to improve their attitude or once again start the season on a hiding to nowhere.
I also call on Glen to clarify the situation regarding paying for multiple games across the HFL if you are going to three sites on the one day I do not think $21 is a fair cop! (just to watch your kids play). :(

Blackwood over 5 goals up at 3/4 time and still win the game by a few points .... shows they have improved from last year !

I was at Pine Ave and I thought Hahndorf where pretty good. They are well coached and play with desire and purpose. As for our mob they are so over rated it is not funny anymore. The same mob of blokes keep letting the coach and supporters down week after week with insipid efforts. Anyone can play well against crappy teams but the second quarter effort yesterday was abysmal. For what some of them get paid and the obvious high opinion they have of themselves they need to have a good look in the mirror as they are not worth one cent between them. Our best 2 players where "locals" and Schnids and Gaz Williams who busted their guts. The people that put time and effort and their hard earned into the club are sick of hearing excuses from these playing prima donnas. Play the local kids who will play with passion so we don't waste anymore money. I will start naming the so called superstars in the coming weeks if they keep churning out the same crap. As major sponsor of the club I have paid for that right. If I upset any of them - tough. Maybe public humiliation will help justify them to earn what they get paid. Hills football is being killed off by these overpaid beasts at all clubs not just ours.

Ironbank look like having a quality B grade again this year. Surely questions need to be asked about the selection decisions if they continue make GF's in the B's yet miss finals in the A's.
