Mitcham are really going to miss their big gun up forward Tom Quinn for the first round due to his thugish behaviour last year in the semi final...expect the only Hardy in the line up to step up and fill the big mans shoes!

Going by the named team for Kilburn, there are 9 club imports: Allen, Brading, Clutton, Holberton, Long, Molyneux, Pearce, Schapel, Williams.

How do they all fit in the 15 point cap?

Allen, a former junior, therefore 0 points, not sure if any of the others are in the same category. and don't worry about it they can only play 15 points per week so let their selection panel do the worrying ;)

Clutts, Schaps 2 points. Holby played Cs last year at Salisbury North. I think Longy played more Bs than A last year in the Barossa so zero points. Williams didn't play footy last year.

Big game vs Seaton this week. Let's hope Marshall's dementia hasn't kicked in too badly yet and he can remember where our oval is. C grade are playing a twilight match after the As which is a great idea.

Apart from the first 10 mins when smosh looked very good its was all athelstone after that.

Athelstone were 3 goals up at half time and the game should of been over at 3 quarter time but the raggies kicked 1-8.

although athelstone won by 5 goals it could of been alot more with the 33 shots at goal they had.

So would you say athelstone are a better side than smosh or could we say that this years comp is going to be very tight and any team could push the top sides all year? also was surprised cbc were so close to payneham and salisbury smash pooraka.

Yeah wasn't a great performance from our POV. Disappointing start to the year, but plenty of things to work on that I'm pretty confident we can improve.

The two results that drew most attention would be the Salisbury and Kilburn wins IMO - Interestingly All promoted sides won in division 1,2 and 3. Be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

Wouldn't be drawing too many conclusions from round one. Although Athelstone were quite impressive with their ball movement. #16 in particular was quite good, and interesting to see Grossman back/still going round - a very good player.

Looking forward to Mitcham in a triple Header at the College this week. Always a big day for the Club when we're lucky to play a game at St Micks. Couple of Sponsors (St Michaels College and the Birkenhead Tavern) help us out and make it a huge day - hopefully the weather holds off and there's three great games of footy.

Huge game for Kilburn against Seaton Ramblers on saturday. Seaton have had the wood on Kilburn the last few times they played. Kilburn has improved a lot but this game will be a great indication if Kilburn are the real deal this year with all of their new recruits up and running.

Its good to see the Chics back & heading up again after a few disasterous years, looks like Jamie Thomas has turned the club around, a great effort by him & his band of helpers.

Good coaches are good coaches NO MERCY. As I said in a previous post, Jamie put Salis Nth into a Div1 Grand Final. Plus he is communicator. With the club and with the players. Rate him highly.

Mitcham at bottom after few years as finalists. Have they got a few out or just two sides who are better at this stage of the year?

CBC got up against an un disciplined Raggies on Saturday. Think they tried to take the dolphins eye off the ball. Was very satisfying to c the boys stick to the task. Growing injury list @ CBC is a big concern though.

The tank on Alex Carey is predictably amazing. If u get a chance watch the work he does off the ball gives himself every opportunity to have an impact on the game defensively & offensively.

Still have no idea where we fit into the premiership race but I would think 5th to 7th. Last year we dropped a lot of early close games. U want to b thinking about finals not relegation over queens birthday weekend.
It takes real courage to wear PURPLE!!!!!

I ventured down to view Mitcham Vs SMOSH on the weekend and I thought it was a pretty good game overall. Mitcham dominated the first quarter but couldn't get the goals on the board. The forwards were wasteful and the delivery into the forward line was below par. I would say mitcham had 70% of the ball and looked the better team. After quarter time momentum slowly changed and come the last quarter it was all SMOSH. I thought the two main forwards for Mitcham The big fat bloke i think they call Plugger?? and the big forward quinny didnt have any influence. Mitcham look to still have some midfielders out with B&F and runner up both out due to injuries but will be back shortly. On a good note for Mitcham there is heaps of depth with the B's getting a win against SMOSH for the first time in few years which was really good to see. I think SMOSH will be a top 5 side but is too early to tell how high they will feature. Mitcham will gain a lot from those two coming back as they provide a lot of run and will be a good avenue to goal.
One question I do have for the SMOSH boys, is Sam White having much of an influence as he used to? From what I saw he seems to have put on a few KGs and looks a lot slower?? I may be wrong but i do remember him as being a superstar a few years ago..
