I don't want to get too off topic, but your statements are mostly wildly wrong, Dog_ger. Most Australian families and individuals are doing extremely well compared to those in other countries. Most businesses in SA are making profits. And Labor doesn't have a 'u' in it.

Profit and loss is just an accountant's interpretation. What do we write off this year ? What shall we transfer from one account to another ? Try reading a Norwood Profit & Loss and you will see what I mean !

I don't think any SANFL club has the luxury of relaxing on their finances.

It's all about degrees of worry.

The pokie reform delay is one bullet bitten but dont forget over the next 12 months the AFL & SANFL will be reveiwing the governance structure of SA Football in the Adelaide Oval era. The effect on the annual club dividend will is a worry.

A lot of clubs have also invested in lighting in recent times, (West, Norwood, Glenelg, Central & South). Will the crowds increase by enough to cover that debt incurred.

Agreed. Australia currently is enjoying the best economic conditions of any Western country. I would much rather be here than anywhere in Europe, the US, New Zealand, Canada etc at the moment.

What would night games do to the average crowd attandance? Increase by 500 people for arguments sake.

500*12 - $6000 by 4 games a year? $24000 or thereabouts. How much does the SANFL keep of that?

On this thread on Snouts it was suggested that any crowd difference between Saturday night's Glenelg game, and the same game staged as a "twilight match", would have been about 2000.

Nevertheless I reckon the SANFL takes all the match day receipts and distributes this among all of the clubs.

The real bonus would be in the catering. If each of the 2000 extra punters bought an overpriced steak sandwich and a couple of beers, then there'd be another 20 clams per head in the takings. 2000*20*4 = $160000, none of which would be taxed by the SANFL.

I did consider the consumable side of things, less costs etc and was thinking an extra allowance should be made.

Like dedja, I'm doing fine - in my case because I already own my home - but I could do with a rate rise from the RBA to support my Superannuation Fund for the longer term.

In the meantime I've decided to take a tip from the pollies and help myself.
I'm negotiating intermittent contract work which will pay me almost as well as them.

Back on topic, I've rejoined the Norwood Football Club, but don't yet know what their financial state is.
It's been a month and I haven't even got the receipt yet...
(But they have had a hectic pre-season I guess.)

Just to clarify what I wrote on Snouts, I suggested that the initial night game at Glenelg increased the crowd by approximately 2000 on that day. Obviously the difference in crowds between day and night games would decrease over time once the initial novelty of night matches wears off (as has happened at other grounds).
