Labor, Liberal, Greens, Democrats? Here's the place to discuss.

story of my life wrote:As someone who has voted labour all my life I could not believe the way they campaigned. It was as if they had no ideas and were going to go the knuckle. People want to hear parties plans for the future, not a continuall barrage about how bad the other bloke is and then in the last week say we are going to get beat up but don't beat us up to much coz its not good for democracy. Sounded to me like they had given up and gave the LNP another free kick.
The labour campaign was that bad it had to be run by Mark Arbib

Bruce Hawker but same thing really. The federal ALP also spend way too much time talking about Tony Abbott this, Tony Abbott that.

Who cares what Abbott thinks about anything, he's the bloody opposition leader he's not in government.

GREENS MLC Tammy Franks has withdrawn her guilty plea to unpaid tax charges, claiming she did not understand the seriousness of the allegations.

In October, Franks, 43, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of failing to furnish approved taxation forms between 2001 and 2010.

Today, Magistrate Jayanthi McGrath permitted Franks to change that plea to not guilty and ordered she stand trial in June.

Swan finally acting on the rising Aussie dollar:

Swan’s near perfect application of economic policy

Treasurer Wayne Swan has confirmed, in his speech to the Australian Business Economists, that the government will deliver a strong contrationary bias to public demand in the budget. This contraction will not just be concentrated in 2012-13 but will continue into 2013-14, an important fact for the market and RBA board members to contemplate.

Of huge significance, Swan’s very clear message to the RBA is that it can easily cut interest rates knowing that government demand will be dampening demand and inflation pressures over the forecast horizon.

Could there actually be something to this Thompson thing? I think like most Australians I'd just assumed it was really nothing and his political foes were just whipping up a storm to make him and Labor less popular. But now it's gone this far and it's gaining some real legs. Now the police are officially involved while the HSU has been expelled from the ACTU under it's zero tolerance for corruption and I'm really starting to think we might have a genuine scanal here. Not the usual Australian politics type scandal of someone changing their mind or being wrong about something, but a bona fide, criminal court case scandal involving corruption.

All this under the backdrop of a 1 seat majority government where losing a member could mean the government being brought down makes these latest developments enormous.

You'd be in the minority then. I think most people think the government are doing everything to cover it up to keep government.
