That's crap HP. No matter what was said, it doesn't deserve the retaliation of (from what I was told) a fractured skull. People have been killed falling back and hitting their heads like that.

Totally agree tipper. I didn't hear what led to it, I could tell there had been a bit of banter going on, my view from the balcony was pretty damning, and whether he intended to cause such an injury or not, he did, and to run from the ground like he did was a cowardly act in itself

Totally gutless act by a moron , drunk, or well on the way, who was spoilling for a blue since half time. North bloke should not have got sucked in to the situation but did not deserve a unsighted attach from a second south drunk. North bloke not blameless but did not start it.North bloke did not look good. D Hookes type outcome would not surprise me. Guttless prick hasn't run so fast in all his life.

I'm pleased for South... last week was a diabolical opening to the season.

... as for North, geez have to admit, I expected them to edge this one, could be a 2011-repeat for them.

i.e a good team, but poor results

Couldn't make it to the game but very happy to see this result, especially after hearing the 3/4 time score.

Just looking at the stats it would appear that South were more efficient and direct with the footy than North (64 less touches, 34 less marks but 5 more inside 50s).

Sounds like a real breakout game from Ainger. Was frustrating at times last year, in that he was the type of player who'd take a great pack mark and then kick into the man on the mark. On the back of a couple of better finals games and yesterday's performance it looks like he's really starting to make his mark in the side now. From the looks of it Rolfe had a reasonable game at the feet of Ainger with 5 shots on goal.

Any details on the reserves? scores..better players etc?

I am not saying it did , I am simply stating I have heard these stories before and often there is more to it. Already one person has said it wasn't a one way issue .

North's last quarter was complete garbage.

I'm surprised a South supporter got involved in an altercation, there were barely any South supporters at the game.

Didn't enjoy the AFL umpiring, seemed like every tackle, bump or even shepherd resulted in a free kick.

There were quite a few South supporters down near your BBQ area.
Also a few on the otherside of the ground and if you observed the 1/4 time and 3/4 time huddles you would have seen plenty of them there.

Few being the key word! Anyhow doesn't matter how many they had or didn't have at the game, they were the one's smiling at the end!

Character win by the whole team, ya gotta luv your team when they play with great resolve and regardless of the score or conditions never give up and continue attacking, great stuff.

As for fighting in the terraces this is not on, any South supporter who was invloved or who knows these morons should turn themselves in or advise the club, these so-called supporters regardless of what club they support are not welcome at our games.

Good post! South's attitude along with their efficiency (given the stas were way in North's favour) and fighting character got them a deserved win. I will be interested in North's reaction this week?

Your point about the fight / incident on the terrace is very valid. I am not sure why, with the number of people who were close by and witnessed the incident didn't grab the bloke responsible and hold him for Security / Police? Hopefully he will get what he deserves!

Hope thats not a sign of things to come. Saw the Port Sturt game on t.v. and thought the umpiring was pretty soft and the same thing happened in the Glenelg West game

Unbelievable, when he went down he was instantly out of it and pretty much straight away put into the recovery position (that is why some bystanders didn't take chase, they were too busy caring for the injured, most that he ran through were South supporters that he had been standing with) I hope he is ok now, should have gone with the Ambo's IMHO, very risky taking a head injury too lightly.

I had my details taken as I had seen the attack (but not the events directly before) from the balcony, that is probably why I haven't been contacted. I was too far away, too tipsy, too old, too fat and too slow to have any chance of giving chase and catching him from where I was, If I saw his face again I don't think I would have a problem recognising the gutless prick!!
