Which Round 2 game will get the largest crowd?

Postby Wedgie » Fri Mar 30, 2012 11:18 am

The Buns for Crowd comp seems fairly split.
Obviously North v South won't be the winner but their are arguments for all 3 games.
I've picked Port and Sturt as I think the Port bandwagon will be in full flight and as Sturt haven't lost a game yet and their team looks good on paper their support might not drop off for a couple of weeks. Being the ABC game may impact though.
Others think Central v Norwood since Legs fans seem to travel well and with both sides being up there in recent years.
Others think Glenelg v West because of the first night game factor.
What do others think?

I picked Port/Sturt as I suspect their fans are optimistic at this early stage of 2012 before reality catches up with them.
And given I can't be bothered going on the long trip to the outer reaches of Hell for the Norwood match I assume a lot of others won't either... ;)

If it's a nice night, Bays game just ahead of Elizabeth, Unley then about 1800 @ Prospect.

If it was at Coopers Stadium it would be easy but Elizabeth isn't a high crowd pulling ground so The Bay it is!

When I was studying quantum physics, we proved that hell doesn’t exist. Of course my lecturer kept making passes at me, I own 3 houses and could have been a concert pianist. Anyway it’s a shame you won’t be making it to the game tomorrow night.

... but if it did exist, hell would be preferable to heaven, since by biblical evidence and the laws of thermodynamics one can show that heaven is hotter. See for example http://paulbourke.net/fun/heaven/

Oh, and I think Eagles v Bye will outdraw all four matches combined.

Thus heaven receives from the moon as much radiation as we do from the sun and in addition seven times seven (ie: 49 times) as much as earth does from the sun.

This argument is flawed. Does it take into account a solar minimum and an Icehouse Earth? .

The Bay at night can be a pseudo-scary place, so I think it's between the other 2 games.....Tiger, tiger burning bright, in the forest of the night...I'm not sure whether that refers to imploding or exploding, but I think we know where hell is ;)

The way I read it, it's relative to the earth/sun relationship with and not flawed at all.

Thus heaven receives from the moon as much radiation as we do from the sun

So if we (Earth) receive less radiation from the Sun (e.g. the impending solar minima), it follows that heaven also receives less

and in addition seven times seven (ie: 49 times) as much as earth does from the sun.

So in solar minima heaven receives (in addition) less radiation again, albeit the lesser amount that earth does from the sun multiplied by 49.

¿Comprende?

Of course if we live on Mars then it becomes more complicated...

Icehouse didn't have the whole earth; only a continent (Great Southern Land)

The Bay at night can be a pseudo-scary place, so I think it's between the other 2 games.....Tiger, tiger burning bright, in the forest of the night...I'm not sure whether that refers to imploding or exploding, but I think we know where hell is ;)

That would be Tyger, as in Ty Allen - clearly William Blake thought greatly of Glenelg's captain. The poem itself was a tribute to Blake's Lord And God (tm), thus Blake clearly believed in the existence of heaven. Replete with metaphors of burning and bringing light to dark places, Blake evidently thought that heaven would be a fairly warm place.

Will be interesting to see the crowd at Elizabeth.

The Elizabeth Downs SC have their season launch on Saturday night and have pre sold 200 tickets ALOT of these people would normally attend. The Elizabeth Grove SC has their season launch not as big but i know at least 25 people who wont be attending that normally would from their.

Also throw in various cricket club presentation nights like Eastern Park and your starting to talk alot of people, plus there the only ones i know about.

So your making excuses early due to some local Soccer competition ? Are you serious .

Who are the Elizabeth Down night owl bowls side playing , that may take away another 8 . ;)

Local 8 ball GF is on I heard as well. Geez you will get no one at the game at this rate.

No what im saying is that alot of the Northern suburb sporting clubs have end of season or beginning of season events tomorrow night. They make up a fairly large portion of people who attend Central games. Honestly i know of at least 80-100 people who would normally attend that wont be due to other club commitments. .

Funnily enough the EDSC would have getter bigger attendances than what sturt do to games against South, West etc etc.

Clubs i know of that have big events are, Eliz Grove SC, Eliz Downs SC, Eastern Park CC, Angle Vale CC, Craigmore CC

Anyone going tomorrow night have a look at how much quieter the sports bar will be before and after the game compared to usual.
