Locking someone else in a room for the rest of their life is probably also bad/unlawful as well, if we want to use the same analogy.

Its probably also not entirely a "like for like" situation where someone murders 3 people in their own home.....and someone being punished by the state through execution for doing so.

I wouldn't necessarily be for capital punishment of all murderers but for the worst offenders (eg Anita Cobby case) I think its something that shouldn't be dismissed outright by society. The difficulty arises though when there is the smallest bit of doubt about guilt. The Appeals process that occurs in America is a prolonged one and this whole issue is something that would need to be addressed if it was ever introduced (which it wont be due to bipartisan opposition to death penalty).

At the very least, I would like to see a stronger emphasis in legislation on the worst of the worst offenders not having possibility of being released.

The death penalty is barbaric and thankfully illegal. The guy should be locked away with no chance of parole for the rest of his life though. People like this have forfeited their right to ever re-enter society.

Do you not find it inhumane to lock someone away forever?

It's not ideal, but killing three people in one night by stabbing them more than 100 times is inhumane.

What do you reckon lock him up for 30-40 years so he can still enjoy a fair chunk of life from his late 40's-late 50's onwards?

If someone in our society wants to and does kill on purpose, i have no problem with society killing them. There is enough financial issues in this world the last thing we need to be spending is $80 dollars a day to keep scum of the earth alive. I would rather see that money spent on the victims family to recieve life long help and assitance.

For all we know the murderer may live a better exsistance in jail than he did in the outside world. He now has no bills, no work, no responsibilties, doesnt need to cook, clean etc etc.

The world is to soft on murderers and sex offenders.

Isn't that considered punishment? Even inside prison, solitary confinement isn't a luxury. Makes murderers cry like little girls.
