The Bible says alot of things. Women are not allowed to speak in church. Men aren't allowed to cut their hair. Tattoos are a no no. Not allowed to wear clothing of 2 different materials.

You were doing so well until you mentioned the bible overloaded. Now, can I get a SMO.

When you are thinking about this, think about what he did to those 3 people.

Everyone has a choice in life. he made his.

He made his bed, now he has to lie in it 8)

No doubt easy said until it happens. As I said though, I hope I would hold true to my values. Kill someone to save on tax. Brilliant from you OL.I have been thinking about the poor family, and it sounds horrendous. I think we both agree there needs to be consequences, but disagree what it should be. Unfortunately for you and most other posters on this thread the australian governement agree the punishment should be inprisonment and I am positive this policy will be here forever.

Has it happened to you?

If not how do you know you are right? Have the family of the victims come out calling for the death penalty?

It's not just about saving taxpayers hard earned. Why should this piece of shit get a bed, a roof over his head, 3 meals a day, access to television, music, games, books, sports equipment and education while there is 3 innocent people 6 foot under and a poor fella out there parentless, without sibling who has to deal with it for the rest of his life. Too easy and soft

The death penalty justifies killing. It is hard to put yourself in the situation, but god forbid anything ever happened to my family..I would say my overwhelming emotion would be to grieve and hurt for the loss of my loved one. I can't fathom how hurting someone else would make me feel better? I am not religious at all FWIW.

i agree there. moeny shouldnt be an issue in cases of justice. should anyones death be celebrated and rejoiced?

theres examples in every system OL im saying the US system isnt a good one

If we kill him does it mean the sibling won't have to deal with his mum, dad and sisters deaths for the rest of his life? Is that how this death penalty works? Is so you have convinced me. If you want to argue about the facilities in jail being too 'soft' we will probably agree I'd say. I think your assuming too much in my assertion we shouldn't 'kill the bastard'.

I've watched family friends go through to trauma of having their son murdered. They have never recovered his body but they have a fair idea of how brutal it was based upon the how the other victim was dismembered. What they learnt is that anger & revengeful thoughts don't actually help. Killing the guy that did this doesnt bring back their son. I'm sure if he was in the death penalty states in the USA he would receive that penalty - after all he fits the profile - poor, homeless, & low IQ. The family wont ever forgive & forget but there has been enough killing already.

I for one hope that I never get to see the return of the death penalty in this country. The thought of a justice system where it is said that "only the poor get executed" simply because no-one gives a s__t about you if you cant afford decent legal representation is truly scary.

Check out stories of people such as Sunny Jacobs & Peter Pringle who were wrongfully convicted & sentenced to the death penalty. Sure they avoided execution but lost 17 & 15 years of their life respectively. Unfortunately Sunny Jacob's partner wasnt so lucky & was executed before the conviction was overturned.

Maybe it should be up to the victims then, pending overwhelming evidence. This bloke will be given a life sentence, essentially the same sentence as the brother has received. I know what I would want and I'm not a feral or redneck

personally i think he should be locked up forever, no chance of parole. he used his second and third chances by killing three people in what seems to be one of the most disturbing ways i have ever heard of. i probably wouldnt object if he was sentenced to the death penalty, however the reality is that it is not an option, and will never be an option in this country. there are too many good reasons to not go down that path for it to make a return.

it is also a worry to me that from what has been released publicly, there was no real build up. little (if any) prior offending of any kind that has led up to this. how can preventative measures be put in place if an individual goes from nothing to triple homicide in one step (once again that is based purely on public knowledge, there may be a stack of info that none of us a aware of)

meanwhile, using the Bible as anything but an example of a work of fiction is just asking to be laughed at. it is a fantasy book, not something that should be used as a guide to how to deal with people. an eye for an eye? lol, what, are we supposed to do, kill him three times?

Exactly! The crime he has committed was choosing to end someones life.

Anyone who is for the death penalty could be seen as doing the same thing.

No one has a right to choose when someone dies.
