rookie listed players are discouraged from playing football.

Centrally contracted players are not allowed to play football.

And Blake george is a lion.

He will win the Div3 medal by a country mile....great pick up by CBC! Could be exactly what they need to be more than competative this year!

Alex is not contracted to the SACA but focusing on his cricket with 1 on 1 sessions with Tim Nielsen. He will play most weeks with the odd game missing. Will be fantastic for the comp and good luck trying to run with him it will take a few blokes...... I know pointing out the obvious. Change of subject but I think SMOSH will be the team to beat this year along with Seaton.

not to mention he is one of the best blokes you are likely to meet! great pick up for CBC but i would have expected him to play at flaggies in the SFL this year, his brother is the runner and i think his dad is involved there somehow as well? has he got a connection to CBC that got him out there?

Damian raidis who is playing at CBC got him out there. Good family friends I believe so went out there to have a year with him.

Would think if he played 80% of games he would. He won't enjoy getting scragged every week though!

If my info is correct he's a inside player and a lil extra attention won't phase him. But I think to say he's a shoe in for the medal is a bit rich.

A bit rich??? A bloke who 5 months ago was training with an AFL club should win it without a doubt if he plays a reasonable amount of the season!

Golden Grove played a trial against Salisbury on the weekend and it appeared to be a good hit out for both clubs. Salisbury had plenty of numbers in the early C/D grade game and the B grade game where we looked a little better in these grades. Salisbury's A's ended up with the win in the A grade game and looked pretty good despite the brothers Mac missing and maybe a few others. I think Salisbury were lacking a bit in ruck and maybe a little in defence but their forwards and on-ballers worked really well and were clean. The thing that stood out for me was their good use of voice, not just during play but between goals and set-ups around the ground. They were very disciplined in their directions to each other and they all appeared to be on the same game plan and this will see them do OK in Div 3 if they follow their structures as well as they did. They didn't mind ripping into each other if they stepped outside of that plan and I think that showed some great leadership by them. Was well worth the hit out and good luck to them this year !
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Thanks to the GG lads for the hitout and to Choccies for his quality umpiring, let the game flow which was good.

Thought Stent was good off half-back, and Sam Scudds had a bit of a different role from what he was playing at Modbury I think but will come good with a few games under his belt with new teammates. Having Peterson and Lepka in the ruck will be a huge plus for GG in Div 4, not many sides will have two ruckmen of that quality. Sheppard definitely the leader of that side still.

Played us Portland on saturday, think they will be very competitive in div 3 this year, they beat us by a point i think it was in the end, there run and carry is extremly good and have good leg speed through the middle, Big Jolly is going to cause some head aches for defenders in div 3, is a very big body and can play. Burrows went off early with a knee issue i think it was but dont think it was to serious by the sounds of things.

When Burrows comes off complaining of a knee issue, that's his secret code for "Cant be farged" Because inevitably it always came up good during the following week ;)

Yep good and fair review. Im of the understanding that Portland where missing their CHB, CHF and their Laslett ;) and maybe a couple of others. PNU had a few out themselves and played several 16 and 17 year olds. Id suggest that probably a dozen of PNUs team from the weekend will be in the 21 come April 14th.
Funny you mention "The MotorBoat" Nick Jolly, he has just come off the summer season of Gaelic Football winning the equivilant of the Brownlow/Magery?Association Medal. You might think his opposition may not have been of the standard he will be facing this winter but his direct opponents over the Gaelic season included Ken McGregor, Shawn McGregor, Joe Pedler (they really love each other ;) ) Andy Kirwan, Matt Doecke, Mike Zaluski and Matt whitford. Some pretty handy players in that bunch. I actually thought he was pretty quiet on the weekend and the delivery too him at times left him frustrated and out of position. I very much agree with what you said, he will cause some headaches for oppositions as he is deceptively nimble for a 6,5 120kg man. I think his recent MMA trg/cross trg has helped his balance as well.
Hans Burrows looks fitter than i have seen him in recent years and im not sure about how the knee is but he did seem in good spirits and still managed to giggle at my sparkling repartee on the sidelines during the As trial. With 3 weeks to go before the big day arrives im pretty confident he will be leading out the boys from the change rooms at the Fortress of Falconry for Round 1 at home 8)

That sounds like a fair hit out, 1 point, good to see the falcons up and trunning, will injuries be a concern for payneham again or have they got some depth this year? who is in there midfield now that rogers, walshaw and loui martin have left.

The name Doeke rings a bell. Is he originally a country lad that played a bit of Eagles juniors?
