I haven't seen or heard much from the trials but has Sumner been playing? One of our major recruits I would have hoped he could make the side.

Also surely Bock wouldn't get a spot? Everytime he came onto the ground last year the opposition dominated.

Other than that, a good team

He played in the reserves game against West, not sure if he played in the other 2 games as the West game was the only reserves/league trial I could get to.

Would not miss the Reigning premiers unfurl their premiership flag, under the new lights @ Eagle Park. Only round one so could be an upset, but 8 in a row would be nice. Fantastic to remember that ethelton were actually so, so, close to breaking their record breaking finals drought last year. They meekly surrendered their 4 goal lead during the 3rd quarter in their last match of the year at the neutral venue of port power.

Eddie is keen to see how Eddy goes.

Gee now I sound like K Rudd speaking about himself in the third person, that is a worry!

Eagles supporter I know said they were doing it against the bays in round 4 at woodville. With the bays track record at oval avenue the eagles would be mad if they didn't

Ethleton? Neutral venue of Port Power? Did you forget to take your meds today or are you naturally like that?

Trust me, that response is with Eddie being on his meds.

Hoban is the person that we need to be our second ruck. I didn't know he was sick so I guess Bock has to play.

But Port have some pretty big blokes that Bock will have to compete against (i.e. Mieklejohn and Robson) which is why we need someone with a bit of strength to back up Parry. I thought Hoban did a reasonably good job last year and he certainly has the strength to compete. Bock will get tossed around like a rag doll unless he has put on about 30kgs over Summer!!!

Is the Lindsay we have got from Port any relation to the Lindsay from Port who is playing AFL (for Nth Melb I think)?

You are confused. The player at the Eagles now is Peter Lindsay, the guy from Port now with the Kangaroos is Lindsay Thomas.

Without seeing any of the trials, or knowing the form of pre-season. I've taken a crack at what I think the side for this week will be.

F - GOLDSWORTHY , STAPLE, HALL
HF - EDDY, GROCKE, KNIGHTS
C - TOUMPAS, LEWIS, JARRAD
HB - THOMPSON, DAY, McKENZIE
B - GIUFFREDA, GRIEGER, RAYMOND

1R - PARRY, POWELL, SHIRLEY

INT - CICOLELLA, ROWNTREE, HOBAN

I know there are always players named in positions within the sides that never end up playing there and Adam Cockshell at CHB (on Adam Grocke) seems to be the case in this side, one would think.

I'm thinking Korey Beard will get first crack at the best CHF in the competition.
