Depends on exactly how much cash you got. I wouldn't be worrying to much about it until the teams are named. If a rookie isn't named round 1, I don't think I would even consider starting him. But I suggest you have a look at;

Cory dell'ollio 94, Thomas Couch 94, Tory Dickson 106, Aaron Hall 106, Sam Kerridge 106, Adam Kennedy 113, Jeremy Cameron 113, Curtley Hampton 113, Gerrick Weedon 113, Dayne Zorko 113, George Horlin-Smith 113, Terry Milera 124, Ahmed Saad 124, Darren Pfeiffer 126, Devon Smith 131, Adam Tomlinson 156.

According to the fishwrapper yesterday Darren Pfeiffer looks set to be upgraded to ports senior list and could be inline for selection...

He is in my side, just hope he does not suffer the second year blues.
Same with Johnny Butcher, but I am gonna take the punt on both. I will either be a Mick Malthouse or a Graham Campbell...

Christensen should really improve on that score, but at 356K there are better options around.
A bit dearer: Kepler Bradley, Justin Kositschke
A bit cheaper: Jeremy Howe, Taylor Walker

I'd be giving him a miss.

"ADELAIDE'S 29-year-old rookie Ian Callinan and Carlton midfielder Ed Curnow head the list of nominated rookies who will play with their senior teams in 2012.

Callinan, a nuggety small forward, was promoted by the Crows on Monday, and Curnow, who played 12 games with the Blues in 2011, has again been elevated from Carlton's rookie list.

Port Adelaide utility Darren Pfeiffer, who has spent time at Adelaide and Carlton, has also been named.

The Power offered Pfeiffer another chance at AFL level during the 2012 AFL Rookie Draft in December, recruiting him with pick No. 3.

Carlton promoted Curnow and defender Zach Tuohy ahead of Tuesday's 2pm deadline, and Melbourne promoted midfielder James Magner.

Under the nominated rookie rule, a club is eligible to nominate a rookie player who can play during the premiership season and finals series if a club has 38 players on its list (not including veteran players) and it satisfies the total player payments requirements.

After impressing in the NAB Cup, North Melbourne's Aaron Mullett was also rewarded with promotion to the Roos' senior list, replacing Tom Curran who has been put on the club's long-term injury list.

Mullett is a speedy half-back who played three senior games in his first AFL season in 2011 as North's nominated rookie. "

Parker if you're inclined to go a mid-pricer.

Thoughts on Kane Lucas at Carlton?

Posting good scores in pre season but will he get a big run at the blues? I get the feeling he will be the sub a lot.

Got him in my team currently but not sold on him yet.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I was thinking about him but not sure on his JS! The blues have Judd and Simpson to come back in to the team so I can't see him getting much of a run.

IMO, don't think he can reach premium status and there are cheaper rookies that will increase in price as much as Lucas.

And this reason also! Especially when you have James McDonald (GWS) who has an AFL ready body at a rookie price with a BE of 30.

There are big wraps on him from Carlton people. Will play more than you think. Makes my team, with 5 premium mids, Lucas, Wingard & Mcdonald.
As for Koschinske, would never touch him again.

Pft Young fellas of today… … Gibson is still a rookie, has not been upgraded and had two terrible games in the NAB, Shiel is untried, has had an injury interrupted pre season and has only played ½ Reserves game, Devon Smith is only being played in the GWS forward line and will have limited opportunities to score against a true midfielder, Neale has had an injury interrupted preseason and is still not sound although Magner your age,who now has been upgraded looks ok but will have had the last three weeks off before debut.

I wasn't saying he won't play. I like the looks of him but with Judd and Simpson to come back to the midfield I can see him wearing the vest or playing limited games compared to someone like McDonald.

Coniglio, Miles, Clifton ahead of McDonald?

I reckon Shiel will play this weekend.

Not sure about that but, if any it would only be Coniglio. I don't think they would have picked him to not play. They are going to need AFL experience in the side.

I've gone McDonald & Pfeiffer at this stage. Probably 30 changes to be made to that yet. It leaves me with Chapman, Judd, Ablett, Swan, Boyd and Deledio on the field, gives me 2 DPP forwards and one defender, I then have Pav and Devon Smith as FWD/MIDS and Scotland as my DEF/MID.
