No sadly.... Hopefully by the middle of the year it will be good to train on if there are lights so it frees up a bit of space for the seniors a bit. Handy having Greenwith Oval for the juniors though but even that is busy these days with Norwood junior squads and the Gridiron team training there.
Did a walk of the new oval and it is a good 20 paces shorter than the old oval so I hope we still have an advantage there. The big oval has been good for us in the past...

Hey Choccies, was talking to a GG person on the weekend who said the oval has a bit of a slope cos the Council fecked it up and need to fix it? surely the council wont admit a mistakeWhen I drove past it last it was looking nice a green though.

Yeah mate I think it has a slight slope and is a little smaller but greening up nicely. Be interesting to see it in use. We have the occassional problem at the current oval with disappearing footies that sail thru the goals and into bushland and the new oval is going to be worse as I think there will be very minimal space behind the goals....

Footy Chick wrote:nothing wrong with a slight slope. Stawell city oval has a slight slope and they run australia's biggest foot race on it!
I've also played footy (well not played but trained) and you can barely notice it.

Almost every hills oval has a slope too. was done in the days of natural drainage.
I remember playing at Mt Lofty when it was belting down and at half time releasing a ball in the goalsquare into the little creek that was developing and watching it float through to the other end.

Gumeracha is an interesting oval.
