Should be good to get away again!

Good time for chasing mullies down there. Live mullet, you should get smashed. ;)

Got a mate staying at Marion Bay at the minute, nabbed at least 1 tuna from the stones today. 8) Thought it was salmon busting up baitfish, ripped a lure through the commotion......... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! 8) "Ummm, don't think that's a salmon....." Fair effort landbased. :supz:

Did anyone see Today Tonight on Friday with that nutcase that goes fishing 4 or 5 km offshore in a Kayak

What a catch

I want one now for next summer. Certainly won't be going to that extreme but it could provide me with alternative transport home when out on the boat at my Dad in Spencer Gulf (He loses his temper very easily on the boat  )

Anyone tried it? what sort of Kayak do you use?

Check out AKFF.com. A lot of the serious 'yakkers use Hobies. Big & sturdy and plenty of room for 'pimping' - ie; rod holders, sounders, etc. Big plus are the versions with foot pedals, so you can free your arms up for fishing. Not my cup of tea - much prefer my tinny - but it's a fast growing form of the sport.

yep when I get out on the water the furthest I get out to sea is about 20km off the mainland. I certainly ain't freaking paddling there if I decide to get a yak

I shall be towing it out there or putting it on the bigger boat!

I have done a bit of research already on what I need to get and from what I have read I have narrowed it down to either Wilderness Systems or Ocean Kayaks. The Oceans seem to be a bit pricey and the Local Wilderness dealer in Adelaide doesn't seem to stock the yak size I want on their website.

The appeal of being able to hang your 'boat' up in the Shed above the car suits me. Just drop the yak onto the roof racks of the car and off I can go. Also a xmas time I can get up early and go out for a morning fish by myself and I don't have to worry about reversing a trailer and handling a big Fibreglass tank

Well the KGs played ball for me over the weekend. Unfortunately I was on my own as a mate pulled the pin on me and the missus was out of action, which cut me bag limit down to twelve a day. I contemplated loading on the 6 week old and strapping a hand line to her capsule to double my bag limit but decided against that idea... (kidding!....well it did cross my mind!). It was probably a blessing as I only wanted a short sharp session each day due to the parental duties. Weather was spot on all weekend down at the burg, and it produced. Managed my bag within 2 hrs every day, launching at 11am on low tide and they bit hard on the tide change and was back at the filleting bench by half 1. Happy days! Big numbers of tommies and gar being caught over there too, but I didnt really invest the time into em'. Didnt end up trying for snap snap as I was on my own and wasnt too keen on heading out to Marion Reef solo. Couldve quite easily yesterday though <10 knots all day. Interesting to see a few BIG blueys being raked in the bay at Sultana Point which is not all that common. Until next time...its KGW for dinner!

Just quoting you Westsider no offence meant.
After watching ET's Ultimate fish Snapper over the weekend .His boat was "stalked" by a white pointer at arno bay .
He then went to NZ and went off shore in a yak .He was having so much trouble with a large snapper .I was thinking why not use a Hobie .
Then again y go out for sharks to eat ya lmao
Not to mention all the sharks at norfolk island that were eating the catch

Well done mate! 8) Certainly copped some decent weather for a fair portion of the 3 days. Mighty efficient of you too, not to mention earning significant brownie points with SWMBO in the process by getting back early to give her a break from kiddy duties. ;) LMAO @ the 6wk old with the handline strapped to her!

You fished Eba Island before? Very productive for whiting even in the shallows before the island but i have heard there are still a lot of shitties around in shallower.
Good luck.

Never been to Eba Island, usually this time of year get our bag of whiting out past saddle peak, then drift along the peak for a bit on the way home and fill the esky up with squid.
I'll say I'd be helping with the oysters Sunday, monday and tuesday since its the busiest time of year then wed-mon fishing.
I know Swamp Donkey is heading to streaky for a wedding on the Easter weekend, just gotta convince him to come have a fish at Smoky which shouldn't be too hard! 8)
