SECONDS
SOUTH 2-0 3-3 5-6 14-8 (90)
NORWOOD 2-2 2-7 6-10 6-12 (48)

South made good use of the 3-4 goal breeze in the second and fourth quarters. Norwood could not kick a goal into it in those two quarters.
Rhys McKay, Ben Dowdell and Adam Rigney had good games for South
Georgiou, Terlich, Reinbricht were among Norwood's best

LEAGUE
NORWOOD 3-1 9-3 11-5 14-9 (91)
SOUTH 3-1 4-2 8-3 9-4 (58)

GOALS
NORWOOD
B Dawe 3, N Batsanis 3, P Persinos 2, M Evans, K Murphy, A Clarke, M Suckling, T Jonas, K Roocke each one
SOUTH
M Wundke 2, C Perry 2, J Bollenhagen, A Ainger, K Brooksby, K Miller each one

Norwood kicked three into the breeze in the first time and six with it in the second to set up the win. South were within two goals late in the third quarter, but Norwood kicked one late to steady. Norwood's pressure around the ball was a key factor as was their strong defence.

BETTER PLAYERS
Norwood - Tom Jonas on the ball and in defence - linked well; Matt Thomas very strong around the ball; Michael Newton at CHF and later in ruck - plenty of marks and very good at the contest; Mark Evans - good link man; Brady Dawe - good target up forward and first year player Kristian Roocke showed some good signs as a small forward

SOUTH
Nick Liddle - very good in the centre - plenty of the ball; Justin Bollenhagen - very good in the first half; Curtis Perry - elusive up forward ; the rucks Daniel Bass and Keegan Brooksby had plenty of taps; Andrew Ainger provided some good contests.

Overall South seem to have a little more depth in the running department. They got a run on kicking three goals in two minutes in the mid part of the third quarter and moved the ball with the pace as they did in their winning games last year.

Norwood's close in and body work was strong around the packs. Not sure how much of Thomas, Brown and Jonas they will see this season. Of the newcomers Newton looks good with strong marking power and Batsanis, Cachia and Murphy will be good pick ups.

Josh Donahue was a late withdrawal due to injury and Ben Warren will play the next trial against Sturt.

Ports lost to Centrals by 30 points in the 16's, should of been more...Dogs kicked a lot of points

in the 18's Ports won by a tad over a 100 points...they completely outplayed the dogs.

Congratulations to Cameron O'neil and Patrick Carr from Salisbury West for making the Port u16's squad for this year.

and to Jamie Mcintyre and Jack Mccafferty for making the u18's

Interesting that the Advertiser didnt even put the scores in the paper today (or Sunday Mail yesterday) and nothing I can see on the Adelaide Now site.

Port huge improvers in 2012 imho.

I know its only a trial game BUT taking a look at their list they cover most areas very well.

Mikeljohn/Cockshell best ruck combination in the SANFL by daylight
Wilson- potentially the best tall forward in comp
Harder/Thurgood- extremly handy 2/3/4 forward options.
J.Clayton- in form is the best midfielder in the comp by some distance
Home record- have been tough to beat in recent years at home which should secure them at least 7-8 wins out of 10.

Will be high scoring games when the Magpies play methinks. Our defence may be a little light on so we may leak some goals but I think our midfield/forward half is going to cause some serious problems for opposition sides.

Yeah, I think if there is one area the Maggies may be exposed is their defence, but with a healthy option of forwards to chose from, the likes of Josh Thurgood can go into defence if need be. I reckon having key position flexibility is vital for any club to be strong.

I also think you'll will see continual improvement from the likes of Korey Beard, Nick Madden, Jordan Erskine and Justin Hoskin and then with some experienced heads like Luke Slattery and the hard-nut Mark Dolling back there, things are looking alright for Port.

So considering South are the clearance kings we should have no problem exposing a weak backline and have no problems taking care of the Magpies. 8)

But I think the Panthers defence is their weak point as well and would more than likely leak more goals than the Maggies ;)
