I know that Port Districts are known for being 'a bunch of dirty footballers' but in our 2nd season of gaelic and most guys playing football since we could walk, you can only imagine that a similiar sport will bring out similiar footballing habits. I know that we may not be as 'established' as other clubs, but we would rather be running around playing a similar sport than playing cricket/getting pissed.

But for the record, we play hard and we play fair. We dont take cheap shots. We never start a fight unless provoked. We have our Club coach playing who runs harder and longer than most of us young kids, and he teaches us to play the ball. But from what I saw first hand on sunday night, Flinders seemed more worried about the player rather than the game. They wanted to hurt us physically rather than hurting us on the score board.

But it is true, it is over, the game has been played and it there is no point dwelling on it any longer. So I wont.

I suggest you haven't seen or played in all your games, or that you have a selective memory. Taints v Ports first game I was the victim of a cheap shot albeit it a pretty weak one that did no damage* but a cheap shot nonetheless. Every team has there hard players, St Brendans are a purely footy background and don't have a rep for being cheap so don't just say that is the reason.

*other than to my pride thanks to my teamates.

Are you saying that a team does have a repuatatuion for giving cheap shots.

No, I don't see enough of the other teams to say that only really when we play them but to categorically state "we don't take cheap shots" is incorrect. I'm sure all teams have had someone take a cheap shot at one point but as for a reputation for it I couldn't say.

Well with the big night only hours away now do we have any predictions to be made?

Will the Big Polish Bear perform another stupendously drunken speech?

Will Wristwatcher be given the chance to talk about his Gaelic exploits both off and on the park?

Who will be crowned Gaelic's sexiest footballer? Front runners* include Gabe and the forums own MBK.

What time Monday morning will the Pegaroro lads finish up?

And the question everyone wants answered...

Will Flinders Girls be in attendance??

*Pun intended.

We can only hope to see another Polish bear speech. Who will ever forget the famous line "You've either got to be a god or at least the wife of a god!"

The Pegararo boys (well Johnny at least) will finish up at 5:29 monday morning or he will have to face the wrath of his boss Gino at 6:00am.

Maybe some of the less heralded awards should also be brought up at this time. Who would win some of the following awards?

The funniest sledge award
The Tom Javor goal keeper of the year award
The Tony Conlon water carrier award
The Irishman that didn't shop himself around after starting at IA award.
The best/worst drunken display at gaelic park

No media bans, I don't think...

Port by 1-5, seem to have a touch more depth then Flinders
Onkas by 1-5, very strong team & speaking to some from Onkas, they have already won it
IA by 6-10, topping off a dominate year, the Blues should/deserve the choclates here & I can't see the Onka's girls coming up with a system that can stop them.

Oh and the minors cup, well is there actual teams in this one??? Either way all the kids should receive medals, trophies, certificates, a 3 cans of drink & each be personally escorted onto the ground with the marching band. They should also play a two minute mini league during half time of the main games to make them feel part of the day…

In seriousness, hopefully they top up some of the bar & bbq takings.

Result from the division 2 grand final:

Flinders 2.16.22
Port 1.7.10

Was great to see us get reward for what has been a tough season. Probably close to the perfect game we have played all year and never let port into the game.

Congratulations to port for making their first GF in what is only their 2nd season? im sure with the same guys out next year developing the skills of the game they can only advance.

Hopefully for us we can get a consistent squad together and push for Div 1 finals next year.
