Titans Vs Western - a bit hard to tip as we had useless sides against the titans both times and decent sides against Western and 2 very tight close games....ill go Western just...but I could be wrong

Port Vs Flinders - Game likley to get moved to 8:45 Sunday due to the weather, and hopefully a Flinders win

Irish Vs Mitcham - Irish, if they have their Irish playing....

Well that's a slap in the face.

Interesting game last night between Ports vs Flinders, Congrats to all the Port boys for winning their first final and playing in the Div 2 Grand Final. I know of a few incidents where a team would rather go the knuckle than play the ball, and it is not the team that you think...

Would be interested to hear any other thoughts from anyone that watched/participated/sat out injuried for the game??

Mate let it go, you won, well done.

Was a tight contest all game

The incidents you speak of had people at fault on both sides, an probably the ref too, but it's all in the game, people shook hands at the end.... End of story

Tough, tight contest I thought Snake Eyes. The game could have gone either way. Wasn't too much in the biff...
Will be a tough final next week. I'm guessing it's IA v Flinders this week?

End of Story?? So are you saying that there will be no rematch in a fortnights time?? And i hate to bag refs, because i know that their job is invaluable to the competition. But it was not very well handled, and too much was let go which is why the game ended up they way it did.

Wasn't too much biff or anything. From what I saw it was just a bit of jumper grabbing & chest pumping! First melay was just started by an intentional foul (footy tackle), didn't see the incident that sparked the second melay.
It wasn't handled to badly by the ref, but I do feel like he shouldn't be afraid in a melay situation to start throwing out some cards. Can't really fault him for wanting to keep most players on the ground.

As for the game, Port seemed to dominate early but struggled to take advantage of all there opportunities, it left Flinders in the game who charged in the second half of the final half. This did allow Port to counter & score a goal that was the difference in the end.

As for the Mitcham v Irish game. Mitcham just seemed to have too many class players for Irish. Mitcham probably should've won by a little more as they to were quite wasteful in front of goal. Irish did defend quite well, but were restricted to playing on the counter a majority of the time. Hopefully Irish can get some more stronger regular players to help out the likes of Cathal & Super Doeckes.

Decent write up Milky, only point I would question is that I would like to see a consistent approach taken each week. I.e the first incident, the Port Player reacted and retaliated to the foul, with the free kick in the end still going to Port.....however when I myself reacted to a foul against your team the week before the free kick was removed from me and a ball up was the result, which was correct IMO as I overreatcted to the inital foul......that move by the ref then set the standard that he was in control and that taking actions into your own hands will result in you losing your free kick......

You're quite right, the retaliation should've lead to a hot ball.

 Hop ball. As in the ball is thrown up. The ref is not throwing it up because it is hot =))

I know that Port Districts are known for being 'a bunch of dirty footballers' but in our 2nd season of gaelic and most guys playing football since we could walk, you can only imagine that a similiar sport will bring out similiar footballing habits. I know that we may not be as 'established' as other clubs, but we would rather be running around playing a similar sport than playing cricket/getting pissed.

But for the record, we play hard and we play fair. We dont take cheap shots. We never start a fight unless provoked. We have our Club coach playing who runs harder and longer than most of us young kids, and he teaches us to play the ball. But from what I saw first hand on sunday night, Flinders seemed more worried about the player rather than the game. They wanted to hurt us physically rather than hurting us on the score board.

But it is true, it is over, the game has been played and it there is no point dwelling on it any longer. So I wont.

I suggest you haven't seen or played in all your games, or that you have a selective memory. Taints v Ports first game I was the victim of a cheap shot albeit it a pretty weak one that did no damage* but a cheap shot nonetheless. Every team has there hard players, St Brendans are a purely footy background and don't have a rep for being cheap so don't just say that is the reason.

*other than to my pride thanks to my teamates.
