I've barracked for the dogs all my life and love just going to the footy every week. I can take my 13 year old son with me and have a kick on the ground with him. I try to instill (not brainwash) the sanfl into my son and thankfully its working. He loves melbourne but he also loves the dogs.
I cant barrack for the crows or power because how can i dislike a player playing against centrals one week then cheer for that same player the next.

Furthermore I couldnt generate or manufacture the passion for the Crows- which is why I have only a limited interest in them, never attend their games and continue to support the Dogs every week.

I often wonder though....How many passionate SANFL supporters dropped their SANFL club to support the Crows when they came in?

Legend has it the PAFC Cheersquad planned to put something very similar on their Banner for the first Showdown in 1997, ie. "What club did YOU give up to start barracking for the Adelaide Crows"

They were allegedly over-ruled by the SANFL hierarchy.

As opposed to the numerous port magpies cheer squad members who didn't give up their old VFL clubs to start following port power.

From the 2010 SANFL Media Guide

"It's a competition that combines century old traditions with a brand of modern day football that is both skillful and physical. It still occupies a place in the heart of South Australian sports fans and remains accessible to all."

Why SANFL?

1. Because no-one tells you to quiet down so they can hear their radio... unlike at Crows games.
2. Because you don't get told to be quiet because your cheering too much or too loud... unlike at Crows games.
3. Because real cheer squads don't need to have free tix and membership handed to them to be loud... unlike at Crows games.

Although really, that last one is moot point because they weren't loud anyway and neither is the mob at the Southern goal. Any attempt to light a fire under their a*se has been met with scorn and disapproval, there was some limited success but it fizzled quickly.

SANFL til I die.
ARRIVE... RAISE HELL... LEAVE.
