Is the Foxtel cup stuffing up the SANFL?

Postby Norwoodman78 » Tue Mar 06, 2012 1:25 pm

Not that it doesn't effect too many teams I am against this competition. The SANFL screws around with the draw for months on end waiting for this competition to organise themselves.

The fact that Chandler has publicly acknowledged arranging the sanfl draw around the Foxtel Cup means there's a resounding yes from me to this question.

Five byes in the opening round FFS.

I think another Thread Topic could well be, "Does the SANFL overestimate it's importance in the Grand Scheme of things?"

My answer to this question last year would have been no, the fixture might have been a bit late but there was no inconvenience to anyone.
My answer to this question this year is yes, with the ridiculous programming and the multiple byes in round 1 it is having a negative impact in 2012.

The purpose of the WankTel Cup is to prevent subscribers from turning off in between AFL games, thereby allowing WankTel to squeeze a little more advertising revenue out of its football interests.

Anyone who entertains the notion that a sovereign state league is less important than this should piss off to BigFooty where their opinions will be well received by other braindead AFL apologists.

Happy for you to ask that question elsewhere in a forum not devoted to the league you're continually sh#tcanning.

As it stands this is an sanfl question and there's no doubt that the draw has been royally screwed to accommodate another leagues competition.

As I have said before ... who is paying Darren Chandler's wage ? Brown paper bag from the AFL more than likely.
How can someone doing such a disgracefull job keep that job based on his merits ?

The Foxtel cups importance in peoples eyes is irrelevent, its pointless getting into that debate again.
The simple fact of the matter is there was minimal if any impact on the actual SANFL comp last year but this year we have multiple byes in round one as well as teams having double byes and 3 weeks out of the game.
It seems crazy that a hastily organised comp would have little or no impact on the SANFL last year but with more time to plan and organise this year its turned our fixture into a shambles.
Is the Foxtel Cup to blame or should we be blaming the SANFL or other factors including the state game for the wacky 2012 draw?

Just because I'm not prepared to cowtow to the "old boys club" running the SANFL doesn't mean I s&(:@!?can the League and I challenge you to prove otherwise Topsy.

I just refuse to buy into this inward looking paranoia that infects our competition and some of its supporters.

Fair comment Wedge.

Perhaps the SANFL should program the SANFL fixtures completely independently of the Foxtel Cup.

Any club choosing to participate in the Foxtel Cup can forfeit its scheduled SANFL game in the event that the fixtures clash.

It is a fair comment and I believe the SANFL would be dissapointed our top ranked teams choose to not play in the FoCup ( for you, Pseudo ) and would give anything to have the top 3 enter into it.

If the SANFL head office places enough importance on the FoCup to alter and reschedule the SANFL draw ( as it has ) then there must be some incentives on offer the likes of you and me do not know of. Why else would they?

Maybe it's not the incentive the SANFL are responding to but a threat of reduced funding from the AFL? After all Foxtel are a key partner of that league.

Pretty long bow there Topsy.

My post was more about constant commentary from Headquarters about being the "Top League outside the AFL", etc....

Newsflash, no-one except Whicker and Co actually cares.

BUT if you're going to carp on about it, how about you make sure the comp is represented by the best the SANFL has to offer.

Just like all the other state leagues have done.
