I’ve never seen an episode of the series but there is a movie by the same name from which the series originated from. Had an enjoyable combination of gridiron and a soundtrack by Explosions in the Sky.

Is anyone watching "The Straits" on ABC1, at 8.30pm on Thursdays?

I'm enjoying it so far - has a good plot and some good humour.

Oh yeah, excellent show you won't be disappointed.

After watching episode 2 tonight of Danger 5 "Lizard soldiers of the third reich" I'm going to have to once again implore everyone to watch this little ripper of a show made right here in SA.

Since moving to Canada this year, Sunday night is Walking Dead night on AMC. They play the previous episode, the new episode, then there's a follow up panel show - The Talking Dead, which is like a KG's Footy Show about zombies!!

This show is not perfect - sometimes it's frustratingly slow and character focused with usually only spurts of zombie action - but when it hits it hits hard. Last night's episode was incredible. Previous events in the barn even more so. It's worth giving a go - the acting is superb though the British lead's southern accent is way wonky at times.

Also on AMC there's a great nerdy new show I thoroughly recommend called Comic Book Men. Anyone heard of it? It's based on daily business in Kevin (Clerks) Smith's comic book store and features his staff who are witty, knowledgeable and very nerdy - the premise is basically watching customers come in to get a valuation on their collections (Godzilla dolls, first edition comics, original artwork...) and either laughing at the way they leave with their tails between their legs or be gobsmacked at the prices paid for some of these items. A definite must if you're a comics & collectables fanboy at all

Gave up on Alcatraz but currently loving The League a show about some guys in a fantasy football league. Similar sort of humour to the Hangover.
The inappropriate birthday song by Taco 10 mins into the first episode is a classic.

Just finished season 1 of Tangled on Fox, and have become pretty hooked .. It's basically a glorified Soapie, but the story line is involved enough, and the characters are all interesting enough.

Casting is exceptional, and there's a good depth of quality about the Australian talent both new and old on display, headed by Ben Mendelson and Kat Stewart (who are outstanding in this and still very much underrated IMHO) right down to the starlets playing the families children.

If you like Aussie shows and people based drama you'll be right into it, if you like action with a fair spattering of Drugs, Sex and Violence then this will likely put you to sleep.

Season 1 was very good, but season 2 has frustrated a lot of viewers, including myself.
Lots of melodrama with characters often doing incredibly stupid stuff.

e.g.

In the latest episode, apparently Carl is free to wonder around at any time and his parents (or Shane) are incapable of keeping him out of the way. Sounds terrible, but I don't think some people would have minded that much had he succumbed to the Walker he teased.

Just finished The League.
Hit an unbelievable streak with probably the best TV show of all time in Friday Night Lights and the best comedy for making me LOL in The League, pity it was interrupted with Alcatraz.
I cant recommend FNL and The League highly enough.
Now for my next show, hmm.
