If Bob is Eddie though, what would that make Gav Smith?

In the A grade compass vs the bays should be a cracking game. Both sides have bowlers in wicket taking form ,both teams have a great allrounder in nash and lintern, very hard to pick a winner but if connor plays i think compass, if he does not the bays might be a bit too strong.
willunga v mclaren i think willunga will keep their back to back dream alive for at least one more week unless ifould makes a few and gets support from the older guys like petrucci and wilson. Both bowling lineups are steady but willunga have the edge in batting and their experience should get them up.

Two very interesting games in the A grade over the weekend!

Compass were in real trouble early at 3/10 then 5/59 but they managed to bat out their 70 overs ending up 8/161 (Num 46, Nash 38) and that proved to much for Encounter Bay getting rolled for 116. Edwards 64 the only one showing anything with the bat. Nash dominating with the ball taking 6/43 and well supported by Tucker taking 3 wickets for himself.

In the other game Willunga rolled McLaren for 146. Minot 3/9 of 14 the pick of the bowlers. In reply Willunga chased it down in the 45th over 4/153 (McPhail 60*, Harding 43).

So Compass go thru to the GF and Encounter Bay square off against Willunga next week in what should be a cracking game!

Encounter bay v willunga is another great matchup. The bays are in real danger of going out in straight sets here as willunga have had the edge on them in recent years. If Richards is available will be a big in for willunga and i expect Beveridge to be recalled to strengthen the encounter bay batting. Edwards needs more support and if he gets knocked over early i think willunga will win and set up another grand final v compass.

Score after day 1 of the A grade prelim:

Willunga 8/220 (Hoppo 48, Barry 38, Moller 3/72)

Still very much anyones game. Encounter Bay bowled tight all day but due to wickets in hand Willunga were able to score a lot more freely in the final session.

Well, thats another season over and Willunga go back-to-back.

From a Compass point of view, I know the lads are devastated at the result and the capitulation on Sunday arvo. A bitter pill to swallow considering it was almost identical to 12 months earlier.

For the B's, hats off to Rapid Bay. The history books will suggest that it was an 'upset', but that cannot be further from the truth. Rapid Bay are a really good side and the 3 encounters between us and them this year have been crackers. The semi final & GF are probably the 2 most intense games I've been involved in. The closeness of the results typifies how competitive and evenly matched the 2 sides are.

The Rapid Bay boys seem pretty keen on entering an A grade next year and I wish them well. Personally, provided they keep a similar side, I think they will be competitive and will win games. They have a solid batting foundation with 2 of the best bats in the Association in Aaron Bennett & Ben Williss. Fielke has plenty of potential and blokes like Wick, Bear, Wedd, Sparnon, Wright etc. can also contribute. It will be interesting to see how they go against the stronger bowling sides like E-Bay. Their bowling can be a bit hit or miss but they have a very good spinner in Vin Wright. I've also heard some juicy rumours regarding a couple of recruits for next year ....

Well done to our C Grade on a well deserved premiership. It is only the club's second C grade flag so it is a big achievement especially as it is a 'legitimate' C grade rather than a club's B grade or a team of blokes not willing to be challenged and play in a grade better suited to their skill level.

On a personal note, for those of you who know who I am, this season is probably my last in the GSCA for a while as I've taken a new job out in the sticks. Sincerely, I would like to thank everyone who I've played with and against in the last few years. We have a great Association of which we should be proud. It is a great thing to be able to walk into any of the other 10 clubs in this association knowing that you have mates there who you can have a beer and a chat with.

Good luck to all in 2012/13!

This isnt the first time they have CHOKED in finals Sherminator, remember a few years ago were unbackable favourites against the Vale, and were bowled out for something very low, can't be a good feeling...But they are a good bunch of lads, some soul searching will need to be done in relation to their GF performances...That's Nibby Nibs.......

All the best with your new job there SHERM, hope too see ya for a few when ya back around the traps.....

Looking forward to next year.

Yeah have heard some big plans are in the works for next season at Aldinga. Read on their FB page that Rosa Garrard's looking at instigating a revolution there, so look forward to seeing how that goes leading into next season!

aldinga will need more than just the garrards to get back in the top 4, their depth is really shallow, and with chambers possibly departing due to the way the club was in shambles last season I doubt this will happen.
