Can't agree with that. Lyon is from the ACT and they highest level they can play at is the 2nd XI competition. He moved to test himself higher admittedly he chose the weakest state to go to.

The rest moved because of lack of opportunity in their respective much stronger home states

How many 'free pass' tickets does Chuck get?

FFS OL your argument holds no credibility at all.... Yeh, it's Chuck's issue that for 15 years of playing cricket these kids aren't taught how to construct an innings. Sack him and that will fix everything, including retrospectively teaching these 20 somethings how to construct an inning in their teens.

You reckon Ponting, Waugh etc all of a sudden realised in his 20's (when they got to shield cricket) how to construct an innings?

What is the obsession with sacking Berry anyway? Sick of reading about it over the past few months...

Whats this his 3rd season in charge? T20 championship and One Day championship.. not a bad effort considering we had won NOTHING before that for a VERY LONG time!

Grahaml wrote:How many times do we need to rebuild a side though? We've tried the "give the kids a go" method several times to no avail. Similarly we've tried changing the side constantly to reward form and performance. We've tried recruiting heavily, both big names and small. None of it has changed. The reason seems clear as day to me that our local guys aren't good enough. Ferguson is the best of them and his first class record is woeful with a batting average at 35 through 63 games. And his best years should be right now!

I think it's absolutely no fluke our best players right now are Klinger, Christian, Lyon and Cooper. All 4 from interstate and were at the time B (or lower) grade players in their home states.

I dont think we have ever rebuild a side properly! How many times have we tried to "give the kids a go" but lose patience and faith in them after just a couple of games only to see them disappear into the wilderness and be replaced by the new flavor of the month and them get the same treatment 12 months later? How often have we picked players at the end of the season on the back of strong grade performances, then we dont see them again at the start of the next year? I dont think any of the kids who get given a chance a given a good enough chance, especially from supporters! Seems to me that we dont give them time to adapt and gain experience from playing up a level in 1st class and expect them to just walk out to the crease and dominate?!
Why not just pick them and play them for the entire season, i mean shit we are losing anyway what does it matter!? At worst we get a chance to give these kids a prolonged period of time to find their feet and adjust to the standard!

Imagine if Matty Hayden got his way. The Aussie team would be off to the West Indies but too bad the Shield doesn't start till April.

Not a bad effort to capture 2 trophies in less than 2 seasons in the job.

For the lack of shield form I would be looking at the players more than the current head coach....

Noticed Faulkner didnt score a run in the last 3 balls he faced yesterday ....

October 1997

TA 301
DIVENUTO 68
WILSON 4/53[22.1]

SA 381
LEHMANN 138
SIDDONS 91
MILLER 6/77 [26.1]

TA 5/396 DEC
DIVENUTO 94 [180]
:prayer: :prayer: :prayer: 121 [169]
YOUNG 2/144[43]

SA 6/207
FAULL 71 [124]
MILLER 2/63 [31]

This match ended in a draw
The player who scored that 121 was the champ Ricky Ponting
The significance of this innings in this match is its the last time Ponting played at the Adelaide Oval in a SS match
The champ needs 9 more runs today for another Adelaide oval ton
I hope he gets at least that many
