I guarantee you, thousands more people would rock up to either of those forms ahead of shield cricket.

You won't find thousands of people jumping around in the Adelaide Oval if the Redbacks were in a Shield final.

I like all three versions of the game but those who believe the four-day comp is more important than the Ryobi Cup or Big Bash are in the very small minority.

99 per cent of people couldn't give a sh!t about four-day domestic cricket.

So get the f*ck over it.

I would take a ODD comp win and a poor showing in the long format than nothing at all.

Two trophies available in the State competitions, we have one of them.

really you obviously werent at the last shield final we won.

There is only two trophies to be won in an AFL season as well, only one counts.

Give me the EPL over the Carling cup anyday.

The South Australian Redbacks are the laughing stock of Australian sport no matter what they do in the smaller version of the game FACT!!!!!!!!!!!

So the world cup means nothing and is a 'mickey mouse comp'?

You play in any competition to win we are the best one day side in the country.

Yes our performances havent been great for a long time now in 4 day cricket but FFS im sick of hearing the hysterical and non sensical shite said over and over again......

The world cup means stuff all, give me the Ashes over the WC any day of the week, i couldnt care less if we never won a world cup game again as along as we held the Ashes every year.

Until we can participate in the true form of the game i dont give a carp what we do in the shorter versions.

Shorter versions of any sport bring the playing field back to an even level. Look at the current NAB cup games.

Serious question, World Cup or the Ashes what would be your preference to win?

Incorrect

The NAB cup is a pre season comp that is for trial purposes.

One day cricket is a stand alone comp and is player over the whole season (has been played for 20+ years?). International players come back and play in it and the standard is as good as any comp in the world.

The Ashes is the best battle in Test Cricket. The 2 best Domestic teams playing eachother in 50 overs is the best battle in that form of the game (highlighted by Sat night)

I love test cricket, dont get me wrong! but the 50 over format is as good as any comp and far from mickey mouse

Haha. I would love to see the Redbacks (and Strikers) competitive at all three levels.

I don't accept the team's ongoing form in the four-day comp but hell, I was at both competition wins (Big Bash and Ryobi Cup) and like thousands of others there, partied on.

To say they don't matter is the point I'm making.

I would love to have both the Ashes and WC.

They (to me) are the ultimate in their respective versions of the game.

To have one would be nice.

Australia has neither at the moment.

The thing with people like whufc, is they get so passionate about their own point of view, they end up confusing themselves and are unable to form a suitable argument and legitimately debate it.

T20 or One-day championships aside we have not been able to progress or develop our 4 day cricket at all let alone genuinely contribute to the national team.

Our only national representative in the long form, Nathan Lyon, is currently the best of a very average group of spinners, nothing more.

Yet he and Dan Christian, the only two to wear green and gold or the baggy green are not local products.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Its not all about having a party on the hill during a 20/20 wake up. Shield cricket has been held as the highest honour at state cricket for the last 10 years and the Redbacks continue to be pittiful and weak.

FFS. ](*,) ](*,)

No one is arguing the Redbacks are performing at a satisfactory level at Shield level.

The statement of neither the T20 or ODD wins mean anything is where it's at.

But you can always go and stand on the hill and have a party by yourself while a shield game is on, wouldn't matter if the Redbacks were winning or not.

here! here!

I would happily give up the T20 and One Day Cup for a Shield next year no questions asked no second thoughts.

we finally agree, its great to see young blokes like Head, Davey in the side, like someone else said though its not uncommon for these blokes to be getting a gig at this time of year. The ultra important part is to have these blokes playing come game 1 next year.

No, the ultra important part is that Head and Davey et al are properly prepared before they get to this level. Sadly we find that our young players are not and by that stage any confidence they have in their own ability is rapidly eroded at Shield level.
