Just having a look at the association website and noticed that they will be having a dinner and end
of season presentations at west lakes Golf club on the 19th of May.
Years ago they used to do a similar thing at Stoneyfell winery and it used to be quite popular.
So question is do you think this kind of thing is something you and your club will embrace?

As soon as you precious Rose Lakes blokes took offense to me picking fitzroy. Whats the matter? You just upset you dont get to read 3 pages about superdud o'gorman? GO YOU ROYS!!

It makes sense now Phantom. Your selection was based on your hatred of the Mawson Lakes Footy Club and Rose Park Cricket Club, your bewilderment of your non selection in the main State side in 2006 by Brenton Reidy and the lack of his conviction in your batting by bowling part timers to you to grant your career highlight with the bat, you also the lack of belief that Geoff Riddle is the Messiah at MLFC and you think he's in fact Neil Craig, your envy of 50 year old Ian Henderson still playing A grade Churches Cricket and you wish you had half the cricketing ability of Rob O'Gorman and next season's big recruit Michael Hobbs. Envy is a deadly sin Phantom, and as a wise old man once told you - Pull your Head In
I wish I was as good a cricketer as what Phantom tells me he is

Pieman, sorry to pick you up, being one of my favourite posters an' all, but your assumptions on the Carnival team selection process is rather flawed and slightly fanciful again. ;)

Just for the record, mere hacks don't compile Carnival tons and seeing young Phantom's ton firsthand, I assure you it was probably one of the best Carnival innings I've been privy too. Whether he produces that week in, week out these days, probably not - by his own admission - but being able to not only rise to the next level, but to excel like that, is no easy feat. In any case, it's in the record books. Check it out for yaself. ;) Apart from my own Club's premiership success, it was one of the proudest moments in my time as a cricket coach. Luv you Phantom, still wanna have your babies...

That result would suggest that our 2 comps are fairly similar in ability at that level, even "without rules" & wearing shorts 'n stuff.. ;)

[quote="typewriter"]Hi Guys, thought I might just post what's making news on the SA Churches and Community Cricket Association website.

For Round 9 (4th of February), please phone your scores into Ian Amey after the game.

Just keeping everyone up to date!

ok......nek defeated para vista in a close game in the end...
and just for those that think I am all about me 8)
bowling to the young fella from vista batting at 9 or 10 ? sorry memory fading.....
was given out caught by keeper after a shortish ball by me (not too short though)
and while our team celebrating and the umpire firing the young one,
I , yes ME...SMASHA...BALDO.... asked the umpire to call him back as I clearly saw that the ball came of his forearm and not the bat...
see cricket is a gentlemans game :? ;)
and hotpies before you say anymore yes , yes , yes , it is all about me.....
now to organise flights to qld for urgent family buisiness.....

  1st of all son, never had any "bewilderment" about selections or non-selections, I dont take for granted any opportunity to play a better level of cricket, the fact I get selected in any team is a great honour and privilege.
2nd Geoff Riddle is definately better looking than Neil Craig, and he may indeed be the Messiah WITHIN the MLFC but thats where it ends..
3rd Dont envy Hendo at all, but definately respect him as a cricketer and his longevity in the game and I can only wish to be able to still play at the same age.
4th O'Gorman might have the best cricketing ability in the world, but considering he is yet to show it etc its nothing more than "potential" and everyone has potential, so im more than confident in believing i've got him covered so far ;)
5th Hobbs... LOL... the end...

Oh and for the record I dont hate MLFC or RPCC but I do sure as hell hate some of the crap you guys post on here...

Remember you haven't won anything yet ;)

I think this is a great idea by the exec and hopfully is embraced by all clubs.

I believe the exec should do somthing the SAAFL do and make each club buy at least 1 table of 10 or somthing similar or face a fine?

Should be made a bit of a night out. Followed by after dinner drinks of P-Pop and a visit to the woolshed.

NO WOMEN THO. ;)

He in recent seasons has played in the PDCA and captained Rose & Crowns B Grade to a premiership last season which included him taking 41 wickets and hitting 227 runs at an average of 32 batting down the order. This season he has been a key bowler in Rose & Crowns A Grade and has taken 23 wickets so far this season.

He's quite a bizarre story actually. He started out in Churches as a hit and miss opening batsmen who rarely bowled but since shifting associations has concerntrated on his spin bowling and it has paid off hansomely.

I hope this helped.

Surely not ? Say it aint so....

Its so OZ believe it was about 106.

Yes he did and to make it more sweet, it was against the other SA side which was considered the A Grade side ;). Carey, I still remember when your brother won that association medal at footy

Yes he must of been a good footballer

I still remember being woken at around 3am on a Sat morning from a very drunk Carey declaring he was going to punch out Noel Craig coz he didnt know anything and was trying to tell him that it was his brother who won the medal and not him!

Then getting a phone call few minutes later from Noel Craig asking me to confirm it was careys brother that won it!
